**It is unnecessary to try to get stronger, more expensive towers like the [[Minigunner]] solely to deal with '''Normals''', as it is too expensive to reliably deal with Normals in the early game.
**Towers that can deal damage to multiple enemies are especially effective against '''Normals''' as they spawn in hordes. Such towers include the [[Demoman]], [[Electroshocker]], [[Pyromancer]] and [[Shotgunner]].
*It is perfectly fine to avoid defending against the first few waves of '''Normals''' and simply let them reach the exit, as their low health makes it unlikely to make you lose.
**You can use the [[Medic]] to heal the base health back, but this is not necessary.
