__TOC__ ==Description== Legacy Retro Zone is a community map which uses the first version of Retro Zone. Because of this, it cannot be played outside of private servers. It is a nostalgic map that is reminscient of the starting days of the internet. ==Design & Path== Legacy Retro Zone is stylized in a synthwave, 80s design, with some objects being based in the 90s and early 2000s. The skybox is a light gradient between dark blue and light purple. Various objects that one might associate with the early days of the internet, like the old Windows box and blue screen of death, can be seen. The path begins at an old CRT monitor that says "TDS.exe will now spawn zombies" and ends at the synthwave graphic. The path itself transforms as many materials and styles throughout the map. ==Interactive Map== ==Strategy== *In general, space is limited on this map. **As such, the Turret is not recommended due to its large placement footprint. **It is recommended to place ground towers on the two U-Turns. **You will likely need long-range towers due to the lack of ground space near the start of the map. **The DJ Booth is quite useful as it can increase the range of towers that are out of range. *While cliff towers are generally useful on this map, there is limited space for them. **Try to place them near the center of the map, where the high-rise buildings are. ==Trivia== *One of the PC monitors has the infamous Blue screen of death that was found when the system crashed in Windows 1.0. *A part of the map is similar to the album cover of Floral Shoppe, a vaporwave album, resembling part of the synthwave aesthetic of the map. *An old version of Microsoft Paint can be seen on this map, specifically one used on Windows 98. ==Update History== *14 May 2025 - v1.64.0 **Legacy Retro Zone added. **Bug Legacy Retro Zone cannot be chosen in Sandbox. *20 August 2025 - v1.73.0 **Bug When selected as a map in map override, it will not actually replace any maps and it will make an error message pop up instead. MapNavBox
