Description

[edit]

Damage Indicators are numbers that pop up on enemies when a tower is selected. These numbers are how much damage was dealt to the enemy. The colors used by them mainly varies based on the damage type of the tower or unit. As not all damage types are registered by the game, not all sources of damage will have them appear.

Regular Indicators

Regular indicators are the basic indicator that appears on most towers. These indicators are colored red. If a tower does not fall into any of the categories below, it uses these indicators.

Explosion Indicators

Explosion indicators appear when a tower or unit deals explosion damage. They are also appear when a tower deals burn damage. These indicators are colored orange. Additionally, damage under this type will bypass defense. These following towers and units deal this type of damage:

However, despite this, not every single explosive actually uses these indicators. The following towers do not use explosive indicators, meaning they do not bypass defense:

Additionally, the Elementalist uses similarly colored damage indicators for its burn related attacks, though it shares no other traits with explosion indicators, such as defense bypass.

Collision Indicators

Collision indicators appear when a tower or unit deals unit collision damage. This means it has a few traits, such as bypassing defense, damaging Lead enemies, bypassing Tank and dealing no damage to Ghost enemies. These indicators are colored yellow. This means it will mainly appear when a unit collides with another enemy. There is one exception to this, as the Trapper's spike and bear traps deal unit collision damage, making them use these indicators.

Melee Indicators

Melee indicators appear when a tower or unit deals melee damage. These indicators are yellow. These indicators are quite inconsistent, as multiple towers that would be considered melee are not registered as ones. These following towers and units deal this type of damage:

These towers, despite looking like they would deal such damage, do not have melee indicators:

Poison Indicators

Poison indicators appear when a tower deals poison damage. These indicators are colored green. These following towers and units deal this type of damage:

The Swarmer's sting damage used to have its damage create such indicators, though this is not longer the case starting from v1.63.0.

Chillness Indicators

[edit]

Chillness indicators appear when a tower deals damage through chillness. These indicators are colored blue. While all freezing tower apply chillness, only the Cryomancer actually deals damage through it, making it the only way to see this indicator. Ice based attacks are considered regular damage.

Energy Indicators

[edit]

Energy indicators appear when a tower deals energy damage. This grants it the ability to damage lead enemies, regardless if the tower itself is given lead detection or not. These indicators are colored purple. This indicator is used by the following towers:

If a tower with Stun Immunity deals explosion damage to an enemy with Splash Damage Immunity, this damage will get converted into Energy indicators.

The Hacker and Warlock previously used Energy indicators, however, as this unintentionally gave them lead detection, their damage type were changed making them use the Regular indicators.

Original Indicators

[edit]

Originally, Damage Indicators acted very differently from how they currently act. It was colored red, just like regular indicator. However, the original Damage Indicator would show total damage dealt to an enemy in a second instead of damage dealt in a single hit. Additionally, it would show damage dealt from all towers, not just the selected ones. It also did not differentiate between damage types.
