Tower Defense Simulator
Description
Tower Defense Simulator (TDS), is a game created by Paradoxum Games on the 5th of June 2019, though it was not officially released until the 14th of June 2019. It is a tower defense game where players are tasked with defending the exit from hordes of enemies using towers. It is playable on PC, mobile and consoles.
Tower Defense Simulator was nominated for awards multiple times in the Bloxies and the Innovation Awards, though it only won the 8th Annual Bloxy Awards in the Best Game Trailer category.
Tower Defense Simulator has various social media accounts, including an X account, a Discord server, YouTube channel and Reddit subreddit. Other accounts also exist, though they are tied to Paradoxum Games rather than Tower Defense Simulator specifically, meaning content from Paradoxum Games' other games also appear there.
Gameplay
The main gameplay loop of Tower Defense Simulator revolves around the players using their towers and consumables to defend a map they have chosen from enemies. Players can pick a limited number of towers and consumables into their loadout. These have varying abilities making them excel in different areas, like some towers being better suited for the early waves or certain towers being used to provide buffs to other towers.
Players can pick a map of their choosing in either the main lobby or the intermission lobby. The main lobby allows for picking maps via Elevators, while intermission lobby allows for players to vote on which map they want to play on. In certain modes, like the special maps or Challenge Trials, there is a set map which cannot be changed.
The mode can also be chosen by players. If a map is accessed through the main lobby, there is a vote between the survival modes, while for Hardcore mode, no such vote is held due to it only having one. If a map is chosen in the intermission lobby, there is no mode vote as it was already chosen through the Matchmaking menu by the player.
When a match starts, hordes of enemies will be sent out. Initially, these enemies do not possess any abilities and they will simply walk towards the exit. However, as the match goes on, these enemies will receive various abilities or attributes, such as immunities, abilities to support other enemies and attacks which stun or debuff towers. On the final wave, a major boss will spawn, which the player needs to defeat to triumph the match.
Tower Defense Simulator also offers PVP, where instead of surviving all the waves, the players are tasked with defeating another player by surviving for longer. PVP has its own unique mechanics, unique statistics of towers for the mode and consumables that are only usable in PVP mode.
After beating a match, players are rewarded with various currency, such as
