The Narratorium/Story
This is the story subpage for The Narratorium/Story. It contains information about the cutscenes and an overview of the story.
This page contains the official story elements included in The Narratorium during The Final Act Event. Most of the content is expressed through cutscenes, though some dialogue is important to the storyline.
Story Overview
[edit]This map takes place few weeks after the events of Null & Void Event.
The story starts off with the Commander standing in a room that contains the Missile APC and screens displaying three things, the nil rifts opening all across realms, the horrible state Outpost 16 has been left in and the disappearance of the Dispatcher. During this, the Commander seemingly gets visions of the Dispatcher being held hostage by Lord Exo.
He is snapped out of this by the Engineer, who came in to inform him of an invite sent by the Narrator for his show. The Engineer realizes that the Commander is not in the best shape and decides to ask him about how he has been taking care of himself, but the Commander ends up brushing all the concerns off as he thinks he is fine. He then ends up running out of the room into the hallway.
He moves into a giant hangar which has multiple other towers in it, including the Trapper, Accelerator, Scout, Freezer, Soldier, Pyromancer and Mortar. Various vehicles like the ones from the Military Base and the like goal Pursuit skin are also there. The Engineer goes after the Commander and again tries to talk to him, this time successfully. After this, the Commander ends up taking the Scout, Freezer, Engineer and Mortar with him to visit the Narrator in hopes this would get them closer to finding the Dispatcher.
The camera quickly cuts to the Narrator's new theater, The Narratorium, where his actors are setting up the show under his, Lefty's and Righty's supervision. Seeing one of his actors drop a cardboard cutout of the Narrator, he scolds him for not trying his best, revealing that the show is set up for Lord Exo while doing so. He then quickly turns the actor into a frog.
Shortly after, the T.D.S. Organization arrives to the show, which the Narrator finds out upon hearing the Commander's voice, causing him to jump up. This leads to the two sides getting into a fight, with the Commander trying to get information out of the Narrator on the current location of the Dispatcher. The Narrator decides that his guests need to relax, so he moves them to a seat and makes them watch his show.
The Narrator begins retelling the events of the Old World, with some banter between him and the T.D.S. Organization mixed with it. He begins at the start, where two brothers, Lord Exo and Two X, ruled over creation. While one wanted to give people of the Old World a peaceful place to live in, while the other wanted to create chaos. The clashing visions of the world and inability to form any compromise eventually lead to war between both brothers and their followers.
During the war, Lord Exo's small but stronger army fought with Two X's bigger but weaker soldiers. Battles would happen all over the Old World, resulting in lots of casualties and destruction. Eventually, Two X and Lord Exo would meet again and get into a fight personally. This fight between the two brothers would be felt across the entire Old World, as their battle would cause pockets of unstable energy to form.
Realizing that he is about to lose if nothing is done, Two X began working on a prison for Lord Exo created by sacrificing thousands of his followers. To get him in there, he caught Lord Exo off-guard by grabbing the hilt of his sword, then kept him in place. His followers eventually dragged him into the God Cube.
After Lord Exo was sealed away, the battles already lasted long enough to have heavy effect on the Old World, as the war ended up corrupting the entire landscape into the Nil Zone. This also had effects on the inhabitants of the Old World, as the chaotic energy in it also began to corrupt everyone living there. This made Two X use what remained of his power to create Paradise, a tree which all realms come from, leaving the Old World behind.
With the Paradise made, he began working on The Meta, a branching web of realms which Two X and Rift Walker maintain. All main realms are tied to it. What is now the Nil Zone would become the dumping ground for anyone and anything considered undesirable by Two X and Rift Walker.
This leads to the final part of the show, which is present day, where all realms are under threat of collapse due to the freeing of Lord Exo, with Two X potentially trying to stop that in Paradise. The Narrator ends up suggesting that its unavoidable and everyone will be sent to the Nil Zone, where they will get corrupted.
During the whole show, the T.D.S. Organization fights against the Narrator and his theater crew, which consists of either people mind controlled into working for him or robotic/plush creations made by him and his hands. Eventually near the end of the show, they fight the Producer and later on also the Narrator himself.
By the time he and his hands are defeated, the show is over and his whole theater is in ruin. Lord Exo has not appeared yet, but something else happens. His hands, which were laying on the ground, start violently shaking. Suddenly, purple smoke appears out of them, showing they have been deflated. Seeing this, the Narrator breaks down and begins to blame Lord Exo for this, saying he has killed Lefty and Righty.
The Narrator quickly gets over this and begins puppeteering Lefty and Righty as if nothing has happened. Realizing that Lord Exo has betrayed him, he decides to make a deal with the Commander. While the Engineer does not want him to make it, Lefty pushes her away, allowing the Narrator to whisper something into the Commander's ear, then clearly states he will take the Commander to Lord Exo if the whispered conditions are met. The Commander ends up taking this deal.
The cutscene cuts to a black screen when the Mortar's shell hits the Narrator. This shortly leads back to Lord Exo, who is dissatisfied with how weak the Dispatcher is as a vessel for The Umbra, as she instantly died when her crown was put on her. He then goes silent hearing The Umbra's laugh and then welcomes her back.
Opening Cutscene
[edit]Synopsis
[edit]The following summarizes the events shown in the opening cutscene.
The Commander is standing by a bunch of monitors, three of them displaying nothing of value, while one displays information on the nil rifts appearing in the sky, Outpost 16 being in ruin after Null & Void Event and the Dispatcher's disappearance. He then seemingly gets visions of the Dispatcher being held hostage by Lord Exo. He is snapped out of it by the Engineer, who came to inform him of an invite to the Narrator's show set in a military base taken over by him.
She realizes after telling him that he is not in the best shape and decides to ask him how he is feeling, but he brushes it off, eats a donut, drinks something then leaves. The Engineer follows him into a hangar which contains the Trapper, Scout, Freezer, Accelerator, Soldier, Pyromancer, Military Base vehicles and like goal Pursuit skins vehicles.
The Engineer and Commander get into a brief fight, though it eventually ends with the Commander agreeing with the Engineer. He then recruits the Scout, Freezer, Engineer and Mortar to visit the Narrator with him.
The camera then into The Narratorium, where the Narrator is making sure the preparation for the show goes right. One of the actors drops a cardboard cutout of the Narrator, which makes the Narrator mad, causing him to turn that actor into a frog.
Shortly after, the T.D.S. Organization arrives. One of the actors tried to make him notice them, though this does not work and he only realizes once the Commander starts talking. He demands that the Narrator helps him get to the Dispatcher, and later starts shooting at him after he refuses to talk. Seeing this, the Righty moves the T.D.S. Organization agents to seats in the theater so that they can watch the show.

Dispatcher: No, NO! LET GO OF ME!
Engineer: Commander? (not listed in subtitles)
Engineer: Commander, did you hear me?
Commander: Huh? Uh- no. No. What did you say?
The Engineer changes one of the screens to show an invite from the Narrator.
Engineer: I just told you. We've been invited to Narrator's theatre that he built in a military base.
Commander: What?
Engineer: You haven't been sleeping. Have you?
Commander: I'm fine.
The Commander grabs a donut and eats it.
Engineer: You haven't left the office in weeks. Did you even eat yesterday?
The Commander drinks from its mug, then throws it on the ground and quickly runs out from the room.
Engineer: Commander!
Camera moves into a hangar which contains the Trapper, Scout, Freezer, Soldier, Accelerator, Pyromancer, Mortar, Military Base vehicles and like goal Pursuit skin helicopters.
Engineer: Commander...
Engineer: Can't you just wait a second?
Engineer: Look, we can't save her if you don't-
Commander: WE WILL SAVE HER!
Engineer: We're all worried about you Commander.
Engineer: Look, you can't be there for someone if you're not going to take care of yourself first
Engineer: I've been telling V the same thing since she's been burning herself out on this new; "Evolution Project".
Engineer: Says she can't fix what happened to Dispatcher.
Engineer: But she will do whatever it takes to get her back.
Commander: Yeah, you're right. I'm sorry.
Commander: Thanks.
Commander: Scout, Freezer. You're coming with me.
Commander: And so are you.
Engineer: Wait, me? But you know I don't leave the base.
Commander: Today you do.
Engineer: Ugh. fine. But wouldn't a portal be faster?
Engineer: Right, sorry.
Camera moves into a plane, which has the Mortar inside.
Engineer: Do we have to bring him?
Commander: I mean, he has great crowd control.
Helicopter prepares for launch as the hangar opens up. Camera moves into The Narratorium, where the Narrator is preparing with his actors for the show.
Narrator: Places everyone! Places!
A Fanatic falls to the ground.
Actor 1: Oh no...
Narrator: YOU ABSOLUTE THIRD RATE EXTRA! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY SET?!?
Narrator: This is MY SHOW! MY MOMENT!
Narrator: IF- No... WHEN Lord Exo gets here,
Narrator: This stage will hold the most magnificent performance of the century!
Narrator: AND YOU WON'T RUIN IT FOR ME!
The screen flashes as the Narrator turns a Fanatic into a frog.
Actor 1: Aw man! Not again!
The T.D.S. Organization arrives at the theater.
Narrator: I don't know why you're all just standing there.
Narrator: GET TO WORK!
Actor 2: Uhhh... Sir?
Narrator: Do you have something to say to me?!?
Commander: I do.
Narrator: AH! You SERIOUSLY need to stop doing that!
Narrator: Now drop them! Or the hand gets it!
The Commander and Scout pull out their guns and point them Narrator.
Commander: WHERE IS SHE?
Narrator: Why would I tell-
The Commander starts firing at the Narrator.
Narrator: WOAH! What is this?! Your new character arc?
Narrator: You're so edgy!
Righty moves the T.D.S. Organization and makes them sit down to watch the show.
Narrator: You need to sit and relax!
Narrator: Because the show...
Narrator: IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!
Screen turns white as the cutscene ends.

Ending Cutscene
[edit]Synopsis
[edit]The following summarizes the events shown in the opening cutscene.
The Narrator lays down on the ground with his hands, then quickly rises up into the air. The Scout tries to point a gun at him, but the Commander stops him. While this happens, the Mortar prepares to shoot. The Narrator realizes his hands started shaking violently, then purple smoke comes out of them, revealing they have been deflated.
The Narrator breaks down and starts blaming Lord Exo for killing Lefty and Righty. The T.D.S. Organization walk up to him, and quickly after he gets over his loss and starts using his hands as if nothing has changed. He and his hands move into the air while the Freezer throws some ice into the air and then starts clapping.
Afterwards, this leads to the Narrator mentioning how his mask hides all the pain he is experiencing, with the whole map turning darker for a few seconds afterwards. After the betrayal from Lord Exo, he finally decides to help the Commander find the Dispatcher, but only if they make a deal. The Engineer tries to stop this from happening, but she is unsuccessful. The Narrator whispers something about the deal into the Commander's ear, and the Commander takes it.
The cutscene changes to black when the Mortar's shell is finally fired, making it hit the Narrator. This causes for the final part of the cutscene to start, where Lord Exo talks about what he initially deems to be the Dispatcher being a weak vessel for The Umbra, as she died when the crown was put on her. He quickly realizes he was wrong once she starts laughing, and he welcomes her back into the world.

Trivia
[edit]- This map was originally supposed to have three cutscenes.[1]
- The cutscene would have been a puppet show similar to the scrapped The Great Finale cutscene showing Narrator's past with the Producer.[2]
- It would have played before the final wave.[3]
- As the cutscene was said to not fit the pacing[2] and that it contained redundant information,[4] there are likely the reasons for it being cut.
