Description

The Children of Exo are the main villains of the Hexscape Event and Operation I.C.E Event, and secondary antagonists of the Null & Void Event.

They are a very devoted cult which follows and worships the enigmatic Lord Exo, as indicated in their name. They believe that he can help them restore Trick or Threat Town back to its former glory.

Their goal is to free Lord Exo from his prison within the God Cube, obtaining as many shards as they can to do so, which they do actually achieve. They are in direct conflict with T.D.S. Organization—the protagonists of the game.

Members

We are shown four main members who recur throughout the story: Titus Maximus, Sentinel Ramiel, Chief Marcellus and Master Kronus. In Failed Gateway, they also are shown to be in control of an army of pawns. No other members are shown to be part of the cult.

The Children of Exo are shown to share association with other beings, such as the Frost Spirit, whom they mind controlled into using its army to attack the T.D.S. Organization, and the Narrator, whom they share a strained relationship with.

Titus

Organization fought against. He first appears during the Hexscape Event, where he and the other cultists attempted to open a portal to the Nil Zone at Eclipsed Village. However, the T.D.S. Organization catches wind of their doings and puts a stop to them. Titus elects himself to hold off the agents so the portal can finish opening, and when it does, he and the agents are sucked through it. The portal's connection was faulty, however, and they enter the Hex Realm instead of the Nil Zone, where Titus reconnects with the other cultists. When the Primordial Drakobloxxer is released, Titus is corrupted by the energy its fragment gave off, returning in Containment as Corrupted Titus. Again, he is defeated, but is not killed. Titus returns in the Null & Void Event, being dragged into the Outer Nil Zone by the Null Guardian. When he sees the agents, he plans to enact his revenge on them, but is smacked flying away into the air by the Narrator for interrupting him.

Ramiel

He originates from Trick or Threat Town with his brothers Marcellus and Kronus. He made his first appearance in the Hexscape Event, manning the terminal used to bridge a connection to the Nil Zone. When T.D.S. came to stop them, Ramiel and the other cultists fled the scene, later returning to the portal so they can meet up with Titus inside the Hex Realm. At the end of Containment, Ramiel and Kronus swoop in to steal the God Cube fragment from the defeated Primordial Drakobloxxer before returning escaping into the portal. Ramiel makes his second appearance in the Operation I.C.E Event, where he is revealed to have infiltrated the T.D.S. Organization. He corners the Commander and his troops at Outpost 32, using the Frost Spirit's army to try and take them out for good. Professor V confronts Ramiel in the control room, but he manages to get away. Ramiel returns in the Null & Void Event, appearing in Blind Faith where he and his brothers fight against the Rift Walker to free Lord Exo. But once Lord Exo manifests into his true form, the fate of Ramiel is left unknown.

Marcellus

He is brothers with Ramiel and Kronus. He makes his initial appearance in the Hexscape Event, being present when the cultists were attempting to establish a connection to the Nil Zone. When Titus held off the agents, Marcellus and the others fled the vicinity, later returning once the portal finished opening so they could meet up with Titus back in the Hex Realm. Marcellus made his next appearance in the Operation I.C.E Event, traveling into the Frost Realm along with Kronus to awaken the Frost Spirit from its castle so it can destroy the T.D.S. Organization. Marcellus makes his latest appearance in the Null & Void Event, where he and his brothers show up in Blind Faith fighting against the Rift Walker. However, when Lord Exo incarnates into Kronus' body and kills the Rift Walker, Marcellus' fate is left unknown.

Kronus

He is the brother of Ramiel and Marcellus. Through his title being master, him carrying the God Cube powered staff and him generally leading the other cultists, it can be concluded that he is the leader of the Children of Exo. Kronus first appeared in the story during the Hexscape Event, being present when the cultists were attempting to open a portal to the Nil Zone. However, he, Ramiel, and Marcellus ran off when the T.D.S. agents arrived, with Titus staying back to stall for time. Kronus and the others later met up with Titus inside the Hex Realm, with him being mentioned by the Conserver as the "hooded figure" that disturbed the realm. Kronus returns in Containment alongside Ramiel, coming in when the Primordial Drakobloxxer is defeated to steal its God Cube fragment before escaping through the portal. Kronus made his second appearance in the Operation I.C.E Event, where he and Marcellus ventured into the Frost Realm to wake up the Frost Spirit from its castle, using the God Cube fragment they had in their possession to mind control it into their bidding, beckoning it to destroy the T.D.S. Organization. He makes his last appearance in the Null & Void Event, joining his brothers in fighting the Rift Walker to free Lord Exo. But once their plans succeed, and Lord Exo is freed, he steals his body, ripping the soul out from it to incarnate into his true form. It is likely that Kronus is now dead.

Story

Halloween 2020

Trick or Threat Town after the fight between Lord Sinister and the T.D.S. Organization is now in ruins. With its reputation destroyed, its citizens were forced to abandon their former home. Three of these citizens were brothers, Kronus, Ramiel and Marcellus. On their way out of the town, they encountered a shard alongside the Narrator, who promised them that Lord Exo could bring back the town to its former glory. While never explicitly stated to be the start of the Children of Exo it is heavily likely the cult was former around this time.

As Kronus' Logbook only mentions three brothers and the Rift Walker refers to Kronus, Ramiel and Marcellus as brothers, Titus is not actually one of the brothers. Therefore, it is unclear when he actually joined the Children of Exo.

Between Halloween 2020 – Lunar Overture

The Narrator leads the Children of Exo to the Temple of Exo. Afterwards, he agrees to help them rebuild the God Cube.

Hexscape

Night 1

The Children of Exo attempt to open a portal to the Nil Zone, but they are detected by T.D.S. Titus decides to stall for time by fighting the T.D.S. agents so the portal can finish activation. When Titus is defeated, the portal finishes its activation, sucking him and the agents into Hex Realm.

Night 2

While not shown on screen, the other cultists also entered the dimension. The foreign presence inside the realm angers the Conserver, causing him to attack the T.D.S. Agents. The discharge of corrupted energy from the Primordial Drakobloxxer's release causes Titus to become corrupted.

Night 3

While T.D.S. fights off the hordes of enemies in Containment, Titus returns as Corrupted Titus and then is defeated. After the Primordial Drakobloxxer is vanquished, the Children of Exo swoop in at the last second to take the God Cube fragment it hosted. They escaped back through the portal.

Operation I.C.E

Ramiel infiltrates Outpost 32 disguised as a janitor, later entering a control room so he can open a portal to the Frost Realm. After opening it, the Frost Army begins invading the outpost. Near the end of the invasion, the Children of Exo unleash the Frost Spirit to attack Outpost 32. After the Frost Spirit is defeated, Ramiel escapes Outpost 32.

During this event, Kronus is seen holding a staff which heavily resembles the one wielded by Krampus during the Krampus' Revenge Event. While never directly stated to be the same staff, it can actually perform ice attack as seen in the Null & Void Event, suggesting it is the same staff. As the game never shows or tells when they obtained this staff, it is unclear when they would have gotten it. The two most plausible options are either during the Krampus' Revenge Event or it was stolen while Ramiel was working at Outpost 32.

Between Operation I.C.E – Null & Void

Children of Exo search for more God Cube fragments, resulting in them acquiring around half of the shards.

Null & Void

Night 2

Titus is sent to the Banlands, where he is then captured by the Null Guardian. The Narrator screams at Titus inside the Nil Zone, saying that the Children of Exo used him to lead them to the "Temple of Exo", then throwing him to the "Executioner" once he had fulfilled his purpose.

Night 3

Ramiel, Marcellus, and Kronus are seen in Blind Faith fighting the Rift Walker, who both appear to be fighting over the half of the God Cube each side possesses. The Narrator restrains the Rift Walker, and Kronus reunifies the God Cube whole again, beginning the process of transferring Lord Exo's soul from the God Cube into the Rift Walker's body. However, Lord Exo could not get the Rift Walker to relinquish control of the body, so he removes Kronus' soul and uses his body to incarnate into his true form.

Trivia

• The staff harbored by Kronus bears striking resemblance to the one that Krampus had, however, it is unclear if they are one in the same.
  • Despite being able to summon ice with the staff, the Children of Exo have never been mentioned in the Krampus' Revenge Event to have taken Krampus' staff or his God Cube fragment.
• The Garage Band DJ Booth's song lyrics suggest that Patient Zero could have ties to the Children of Exo.
