- "Were you waiting for me? How sweet of you..In that case, I will be sure to serve you well!"
File:Night4Wave16b.ogg - ―The Umbra dialogue on Wave 16 (Totality Tower)
Description
[edit]The Umbra was the final boss of the Solar Eclipse Event. It had an extremely high amount of health but it had a very slow speed. It had two abilities, one where it fired multiple arrows on towers, stunning them and an ability where it fired at the Star Cannon, decreasing the base health by 40. When it reached half health, it increased its speed significantly. The Umbra was also immune to being slowed down by the Toxic Gunner and frozen by towers like the Sledger or Freezer. Additionally, because of its Energy Immunity, the Electroshocker could only slow down The Umbra instead of stunning it.
Uniquely, The Umbra could be stunned by the Star Cannon. This also prevented the Shot of the Century ability from finishing.
Appearance
[edit]The Umbra had black skin. It wore a magenta chestplate and leggings, with yellow patterns on them. It had brown hair with ponytails. It had a purple crown with a headpiece which represents the sun on its back. It had glowing yellow eyes. It has a purple bow on its back that it used to perform its abilities with. During Blazing Rage, The Umbra would emit a red aura around it.
Strategy
[edit]- High DPS towers, such as the Accelerator, Ranger, Pursuit and Turret, are recommended to defeat this boss.
- It is highly recommended to use the Star Cannon to stun The Umbra, and may be necessary to survive the Shot of the Century ability.
- The Star Cannon is best used when The Umbra is about to perform its Shot of the Century ability, as it cancels it out and prevents the loss of base health, which could otherwise lead to a defeat.
- The Umbra will laugh before it uses its Shot of the Century ability. This can be used to tell when to use the Star Cannon.
- It is recommended for one player to operate the Star Cannon, while one or two players look for Charges.
- It is not recommended to use the Star Cannon when The Umbra is not using its Shot of the Century, as you may not have enough Charges when it actually does use it, causing you to lose health.
- However, if The Umbra is near the exit, you should use the Star Cannon to prevent it from reaching the exit to give your towers more time to attack it.
- The Star Cannon is best used when The Umbra is about to perform its Shot of the Century ability, as it cancels it out and prevents the loss of base health, which could otherwise lead to a defeat.
- The Electroshocker can only slow down The Umbra instead of stunning it. It can also only slow down The Umbra for a shorter amount of time because of its large size.
- Other slowing towers are unable to slow The Umbra down.

Trivia
[edit]- The Umbra's name is the word for the inner shadow of any opaque object. When an eclipse happens, the celestial body caught within the umbra of the overlapping object experiences a total eclipse.
- The Umbra is the second enemy in the game to reach 1,000,000 base health, the first being the Frost Spirit.
- The Umbra is the second enemy to have voice acting, the first being Lord Sinister.
- The Umbra is voiced by AerelisVA.
- Before Wave 16, The Umbra could be seen walking across the side of Totality Tower.
- Upon death, glitch particles were emitted from The Umbra's body and the voicelines appeared to lag.
- The Umbra appeared in a short video that promoted the MERRY2021 code, where it would give you a present.
- The Umbra's theme, Totality, is the term used to say the moment where there is total obscuration of the sun during an eclipse.
- This coincides with Totality Tower turning dark on Wave 16, representing a total solar eclipse.
- If Tower Defense Simulator won the Roblox Innovation Awards 2022, The Umbra was promised to return to the game.
- As this did not happen, The Umbra did not return. However, the Mimic Umbra enemy could be a reference to this.
- A younger The Umbra can be seen in cutscenes in A Dark Tale and The Haunted Past during the Lunar Overture Event.
- The Umbra is also featured in the beginning of the cutscene for Outpost 16 during the Null & Void Event.
- In the end of the second The Narratorium cutscene, Lord Exo places The Umbra's crown as the vessel on Dispatcher's head. This results in The Umbra being brought back to life.
- The Umbra's crown, Eclipse Crown was released as a limited UGC that could be obtained by beating The Great Finale, it had 12,000 stock.
