Description
The Abnormal is the first enemy that appears in Molten, Fallen, Challenge Trials and Fallen Arena PVP modes. It also appears in Badlands II and Pizza Party maps, and in The Takeover Event. Compared to the Normal, the Abnormal is faster and has more health. It also appears in the Sandbox exclusive Legacy Fallen and Golden modes.
The Abnormal can be spawned by the Dark Necromancer and from the Mystery upon its death in Legacy Fallen, Hardcore and Golden modes.
Logbook Description
"The Abnormal zombie is a mutation from your basic zombie. It is faster and has more health than its predecessor, and can usually be found in your typical horde."
Appearance
The current version of the Abnormal has a desaturated green skin color and a dirty dark brown torso and legs. It has dark green veins on its arms and head.
It has two randomly chosen animations, one of which has it confidently walking upright, while the other is remarkably similar with the key difference being that it is leaning forward.
The current version of the legacy Abnormal in Hardcore mode has a reflective desaturated light green skin color and black diamond-plated torso and legs. Its face has two scars, which forms an "X" on its face.
The current Enemies Beta version of the legacy Abnormal has a desaturated dark green skin color with lighter green veins running along its head and arms. It has a dark greyish-blue torso and legs.
The second version of the Abnormal had a reflective light green skin color, a purple granite torso and legs, and a sad face.
The first version of the Abnormal had a salmon skin color, a brown pebble torso, darker brown pebble legs and a drooling zombie face.
Strategy
- Most towers can deal with the Abnormal effectively.
- Any tower catered towards early-game, like the Cowboy, Golden Soldier, Brawler, Militant or Golden Cowboy is recommended.
- It is unnecessary to try to get stronger, more expensive towers like the Minigunner solely to deal with Abnormals, as cheaper options fare well against them already.
- Towers that can deal damage to multiple enemies are especially effective against Abnormals as they spawn in hordes. Such towers include the Electroshocker, Assassin, Pyromancer and Shotgunner.
- While slightly risky, it is sometimes ideal to avoid defending against the first few waves of Abnormals and simply let them reach the exit, as their low health makes it unlikely to make you lose, especially with high base health.
