Description

[edit]

The Molten Boss appears as the final boss in the Sandbox exclusive Legacy Molten mode.

Like most other major bosses, the Molten Boss moves very slowly, but it has an extremely high amount of health. It also has Burn Immunity, making it immune to burn damage. Additionally, as it is a boss enemy, it is immune to being frozen, slowed down by the Toxic Gunner, confused by the Jester, damaged by the Nuke's fallout, knocked back, slowed down by the DJ Booth and it is only slowed down by the Electroshocker and Warden instead of being stunned.

It has three abilities:

  1. Its first ability is Magma Stomp which will create a shockwave and stun towers that are hit.
  2. Its second ability is Scythe Slam which will summon six random enemies. In Hardcore, it summoned in Molten Titan and Lava, in Molten it summoned Molten Titan and Molten, while in Sandbox mode is only summons in Normals.
  3. Its third attack is Fireball. The Molten Boss throws an explosive fireball at a tower. This sets the targeted tower and all surrounding towers on fire, stunning them for a period of time.

Strategy

[edit]
  • As with most major bosses, the Minigunner, Pursuit, Ranger, Turret and Accelerator are recommended for their high DPS.
    • The Commander can also be used to boost the firerate of these towers with its ability.
    • The DJ Booth can also help increase the range of these towers, decrease their high prices, or increase their damage output, or all three at Level 5.
      • You can set a DJ Booth to its Red track to maximize damage output while also increasing range and decreasing upgrade costs of towers in its range.
  • You cannot defend your towers against the Fireball attack if your towers do not have immunity to stun. Additionally, the attack has quite a long range.
    • You can mitigate its effects by not grouping towers together.
    • Air-based towers, cliff towers and the Medic are immune to this attack. Additionally, the Gladiator and Warden can block this stun, so long as they do have not blocked another attack within the last few seconds.
    • A few bait towers can be used to distract the Molten Boss, making it less likely to throw the fireball at other towers.
  • You can use the Medic to shield towers from the Molten Boss's Fireball and Stomp stun.
  • The Toxic Gunner cannot be used to slow this down.
    • Stunning towers like the Electroshocker can only slow it down instead of stunning it. Similarly, freezing towers can also only slow it down instead of stunning it.
    • The Jester's confusion cannot confuse it, but its ice bombs can still slow it down.
    • It cannot be slowed down by the DJ Booth.

Trivia

[edit]
  • Until the Gravekeeper was added, this was the only regular major boss in the game.
    • However, the Swordmaster predates the Molten Boss by six days.
  • The Molten Boss used to spawn Moltens instead of Lavas in Molten mode.
  • There was once a glitch where you could place a tower on the body of the Molten Boss when it was killed.
  • The Molten Boss was originally the logo of Paradoxum Games, the group that owns Tower Defense Simulator.
  • Before the MEGA Update, the phrase "Everything changed... When the Fire Nation attacked.", which was played before the Molten Boss appeared, was a reference to the opening of the show Avatar: The Last Airbender.
  • The magma horns on the Molten Boss are a retextured version of the Fiery Horns Of The Netherworld accessory from the Roblox catalog.
  • The pauldrons worn by the Molten Boss are a retextured version of the Crushing Crystals Pauldrons accessory from the Roblox catalog.
  • The Commander's dialogue before the Molten Boss appeared called the Molten Boss the Molten Titan, likely due to a developer oversight.
    • Given the fact that the "Boss" suffix tends to be used more often for enemies who are stronger versions of weaker enemies (For instance, Speedy Boss being the name of stronger versions of the weaker Speedy enemy), the name "Molten Titan" seems to be more fitting for the Molten Boss and vice versa. It's entirely possible that the two respective enemies' names were swapped in development, whether it be on purpose or accidental.
  • Prior to the MEGA Update, the Molten Boss had two additional abilities.
    • The first was Scythe Raise which healed between 350 and 735 health over a period of 3.5 seconds.
    • The second was Scythe Swing. The Molten Boss would swing its scythe, stunning all towers in a 15-stud radius.
  • The Molten Boss appeared alongside the legacy Fallen King on the old "You Lost" screen.
  • The Molten Boss' third final wave music is the same song as Battle Royale by Alec Koff.
    • The current theme is a remix of the same song.
