Null Commander was previously removed from the game on the 26th of November 2025 as it was part of the Null & Void Event, though it has been made available through the Sandbox mode.
It is not accessible anywhere else in the game, aside from in Sandbox Mode. This page will attempt to include information about both the version before removal and its re-added version.

Commander on Wave 20 (Outpost 16)

Description

[edit]

The Null Commander, internally referred to as the Corrupted Commander, was a major boss that appeared in Outpost 16. Serving as its final boss for the first night of the Null & Void Event.

It had three abilities:

  1. The first ability is Open Fire, in which, upon activation, it started shooting towers or units in its range of 30, stunning them for 6 seconds or dealing 200 damage to Units respectively.
  2. Its second ability, Call To War, spawned six Bloated Null Scouts, four Bloated Null Crook Bosses and one Null Pyromancer. All of the summoned enemies will also have their Defense set to 50%, overriding whatever value they were normally set to.
  3. Its third and final ability is Summon APCs, which spawned three Null Missile APCs at one of the entrances.

Logbook Description

[edit]

"When the Null Commander emerged from the tear, Commander froze, his weapon lowering at the sight before him. Dispatcher's voice cut through the shock, snapping him back to reality. Commander raised his gun and fired, but the bullets ricocheted off its armor. But when the Null Commander chuckled and raised its radio, Commander's blood ran cold."

Appearance

[edit]

The Null Commander is a corrupted recreation of the Commander. It has purple skin and parts of its body appear to have been replaced by mechanical parts. It has one metal eye with a green lens. It wears a black cap with the Paradoxum Games logo on it and also wears a blue jacket. On its right shoulder, it has a grey spiked shoulder-pad. Various purple spikes appear on its body.

The Null Commander holds a Desert Eagle in its right hand and a radio in its left hand, both of which are used to perform its abilities.

Event Strategy

[edit]

As this enemy only appears through Sandbox mode, no strategy section is made for its current version. Instead, a strategy section for the one that appeared without Sandbox mode in Outpost 16 is listed instead.

  • The Null Commander can be taken down quite easily by towers like the Golden Minigunner, Accelerator, Ranger or Pursuit.
    • Large numbers of weaker towers, like the Golden Scout, can also defeat it.
    • Support towers like the Commander and DJ Booth can be helpful at boosting the statistics of your towers.
  • The Null Commander is one of the faster boss enemies in the game, making stalling towers useful against it, though as it is a Boss most forms of stalling will not work on it.
    • Freezing towers can be useful here as while Boss enemies are immune to the freeze, they only gain a partial immunity to its chillness.
    • Similarly, stunning towers like the Electroshocker are useful, as they still get slowed down.
  • There are a few curses which can be taken to help take down the Null Commander.
    • While Temperance does apply Mutation, this will have no effect on the Null Commander as it only spawns once. This means the Stun Immunity given to towers can be very helpful here.
      • If taken on Wave 20, the Mutation modifier will do nothing as there is no wave past Wave 20, making it only boost rewards by 20%.
    • The Chariot can be useful as it boosts the damage and firerate of towers at the final wave.

Trivia

[edit]
  • The Null Commander's sound distortion filter was also used for The Maw's chase theme.
  • Oddly, on the Null Commander's badge and matchmaking renders, it is seen with a green glowing eye, however this never appears in game.
  • The Null Commander is unaffected by enemy appearance modifiers, such as Talk Like a Pirate Day.
