Unstable Ice

- Hey, uh... I see something crawling out of the frost.
- ―Professor V on Wave 19 (Frost)
Description
The Unstable Ice is a Hidden enemy that appears in the Frost mode. Like most of that mode's enemies, it first appeared in the Operation I.C.E Event. It has a decent amount of health and moves at a fast speed. After dying, it will use its Avalanche ability, which makes it jump upon at a tower or unit in its range and explodes, which applies a 20% Scared Debuff to towers for 5 seconds and deals 50 admage to units. If there are no towers or units in range or only towers that cannot be targeted, it dies normally.
Logbook Description
"After a massive avalanche, the sudden compaction of energized snow sparks new life as an Unstable Ice. Lopsided with thick shards protruding from its body, the Unstable Ice can often be found roaming the lower mountain side. The energy from the avalanche is stored within their body and explodes out after death, freezing towers and units."
Appearance
The Unstable Ice is an entity with white skin covered in a thick layer of blue ice. It has one white eye on its head. While it has a large torso and waist, its legs and arms are thin. It has additional layers of snow on its shoulders and torso, which have blue spikes protruding from them. Inside its body, it contains energy from a massive avalanche which is released upon its death.
Strategy
- Towers with decent DPS and hidden detection, like the Golden Scout, Rocketeer, Accelerator, Operator and Golden Soldier can be used to take this down.
- Although it will apply debuffs to towers, it will actually not target any tower with the Stun Immunity, making it either target another tower or if there are no towers without Stun Immunity in its range, it will simply disappear.
- Do note however that this does not make them immune to the debuff, as they will still receive it if there is a tower next to them without Stun Immunity that gets targeted. This means the only way to benefit from this is having towers with it separated from towers without it, which often is not the optimal way to play.
- As the Medic gives towers Stun Immunity with its Ubercharge, it can be used to protect them from being targeted by the Unstable Ice.
