Removed Content

Firerate Bug has been removed from the game as of the 6th of June 2026.
Firerate Bug may still exist in the game's code, though it is no longer officially used in-game. This page has been preserved for historical purposes.

Marked for Improvement

This article has the following issues: this page and majority of tower/unit pages require updating.
You can help by editing and fixing it.

The Firerate Bug, also known as the RoF (Rate of Fire) Bug, was a bug that slightly increased the firerate of all towers and units. This increase was not displayed on the statistics in the game. This bug significantly affected the statistics of fast-firing towers, such as the Minigunner and Ace Pilot, by significantly decreasing their DPS, whereas slow-firing towers like the Ranger or Sniper were hardly affected.

This has been fixed as of the 6th of June 2026, and all firerate statistics in the game are considered to be accurate unless affected by a different unrelated bug.

Prior to 5th of June 2026

[edit]

The Firerate Bug affects all towers and units that can directly attack enemies, meaning the only towers that are not affected are the Farm, Medic and the Firework Technician and the only units that are not affected are the Humvee, Humvee 2, Elf, Bomber Elf, Skeleton, Giant Skeleton and Hallow Guard. The Firerate Bug does not affect the firerate of some secondary attacks towers or units may perform, some damage-over-time effects applied by towers (like burn from the Pyromancer) or certain other cooldowns.

The Firerate Bug increases the firerate of a tower/unit depending on its firerate, which can vary anywhere between 0.017 and 0.032 seconds. The firerate increase affects fast firing towers the most; for example, the Minigunner at Level 4 should have a firerate of 0.09, but because of the Firerate Bug, it has a firerate of about 0.117, decreasing its DPS from 166.67 to 128.20, which is a decrease of 38.47 DPS, or a loss of about 23.08 DPS. Meanwhile, slow firing towers are barely affected by it; for example, the Ranger at Level 4 should have a firerate of 8, but because of the Firerate Bug, it has a firerate of about 8.025, decreasing its DPS from 156.26 to 155.76, which is a decrease of 0.30 DPS, or a loss of 0.2% DPS.

The Firerate Buff is also affected by the Firerate Bug, making it less effective. For example, the Level 4 Minigunner without the Firerate Bug with a 50% firerate boost should have a firerate of 0.06, but with the Firerate Bug it has a firerate of 0.083. This means that its DPS with a 50% firerate boost is decreased from 250 to 180.72, which is a decrease of 69.28 DPS, or a loss of 27.71% DPS.

On this Wiki, the firerate statistic of all towers and units is increased by specific values based on the firerate. While technically possible to calculate by hand, due to the effort it would take, it is overall recommended to either use Neowtext or an online calculator.

Prior to the 9th of January 2023

[edit]

Prior to the 9th of January 2023, the firerate increase caused by the Firerate Bug for units was higher than it currently is. The firerate increase was generally around 0.03 seconds. For towers, the firerate increase remained at around 0.008 seconds.

On this Wiki, the firerate statistic of all towers and units after the Violent Night Update and before the 9th of January 2023 is increased by 0.008 and 0.03 respectively, unless stated otherwise. This does not, however, mean the actual value is this; it can vary between towers and even between matches.

Prior to the Violent Night Update

[edit]

Prior to the Violent Night Update, the firerate increase caused by the Firerate Bug for units was lower than it was before the Violent Night Update. The firerate increases could be anywhere between 0.008 and 0.017 seconds, but the increase was generally around 0.008 seconds. This is the same as the current situation.

On this Wiki, the firerate statistic of all units after the Entity System Update and before the Violent Night Update is increased by 0.008, unless stated otherwise. This does not however mean the actual value is this, it can vary between towers and even between matches.

Prior to the Entity System Update

[edit]

Prior to the Entity System Update, the firerate increase caused by the Firerate Bug was higher than it currently is. The firerate increases could be anywhere between 0.02 and 0.05 seconds, but the increase was generally around 0.03 seconds.

On this Wiki, the firerate statistic of all towers and units after the Overhaul Update and before the Entity System Update is increased by 0.03, unless stated otherwise. This does not however mean the actual value is this, it can vary between towers and even between matches.

Prior to the Overhaul Update

[edit]

Prior to the Overhaul Update, the firerate increase caused by the Firerate Bug was higher than it currently is. While it still added anywhere between 0.02 and 0.05 seconds, each tower and unit would be affected by it differently, but generally, it was around 0.05 seconds. This meant that fast-Firerate towers such as the Minigunner, with a firerate of 0.05 at max level at the time, may have had their firerate doubled.

In Hardcore Testing BETA, a Firerate Bug bugfix was added. However, this did not fix the bug, but did make it so that all towers and units have a firerate increase of around 0.03 seconds rather than 0.05 seconds. This bugfix was also added to the Overhaul Update when it was released.

On this Wiki, the firerate statistic of all towers and units before the Overhaul Update is increased by 0.05, unless stated otherwise. This does not however mean the actual value is this, it can vary between towers and even between matches.

Implied Statistics

[edit]

The firerate statistics in the game do not show the effects of the Firerate Bug. The statistics of each tower without the Firerate Bug, and how they compare to statistics with the Firerate Bug can be found here.
