Is a platinum minigunner spam healthy for proffesionals?

Platinum Minigunner has little DPS increase, only having an effect on level 5. The increase is also 12 dps more in normal server and 20 dps, which is decreased with the ROF bug. It can do well mid game if level 2 for normal servers and level 3 for beta test servers, but you're better of with an early game tower that does well in both early game and mid game.
Basically, you can use it but there are better towers.
