yeah theyre not adding evolved ranger, its good in its niche but the evolved powercreep overshadows it

Let alone what an Evolved Ranger would even do in the first place. What will it do? Shoot lasers that deal strong boss multiplier damage?
There's a lot you can do to a basic tower, but so much can make it so unnecessary.

tbh both scout and mini are pretty basic towers aswell and they got evos

scout and minigunner's evos were leaked a while back, and even then both towers filled up a role that didnt exist in the late game roster of towers (all rounder + boss killer)

Yeah, they're given the spam mechanic and the one man army title. What's there for Ranger to have? He can't be either because they're already taken by them.
The cliff tower that gives a buff? A cliff tower that's the strongest damage dealer in the game? What is there to give an Evolved Ranger?

Ive been cooking up a mean ranger evo that has a few new gimmicks

I could see three ways a Ranger evolution could work:
Increased boss damage (As you said)
Leaning into the famous explosive shots and being a splash damage tower (Or possibly pierce to be unique from Mortar)
A cliff-based support tower with varying buff rings depending on range

The problem is that the first one just undermines the base Ranger, the second one undermines Mortar, and the third isn't rather descriptive, more so an idea that hasn't been practically used.
It's just hard to think of it without it taking the niche of already existing towers like even itself.

Don't think they'll call it Outlaw because Outlaw is the older version of Ranger so it doesn't make it seem like an evolution. Ranger is the evolution of Outlaw, not the other way around.
Probably won't be Railgunner, either. Too on point. Something else, probably. My guess is Striker.

Outlaw is just a nostalgia bait and has no sense to be an evolution of futuristic tower. Railgunner sounds good, but we already have that skin in the game. Maybe... Overwatch? (Like 1 user suggested), or Observer?

The tower names are generic on purpose. Why? Because they identify by their professions, not a minecraft block, dude.

Don't forget the Hallow Punk, Harvester, Elementalist, and the Max Guard for being such great examples of their own professions. Especially the BIOLOGIST!
