no seriously, I just don't understand the hate, it started around 2026 when necro was actually good, and everybody is STILL hating on necromancer when all your other dps options have BEEN washed since juggernaut and kingpin.

He is really cool
He has a really good mechanic with a really good potential
But objectively it is supposed to be a late game dps but he doesn't works for it
It should be the same as now but cheaper and better at early levels to make him a mid game sub-dps and if they want to make him usable at late game buff alot the tower's damage because graves are op - 1
Alright lemme explain. The necro hate has been around for what 2 years now. But basically the problem with Necromancer was we didnt really understand what his role was back then because there wasnt anything like him at the time. So people were saying these claims of how "with the right support necro has crazy dps" which lead yo the rise of the other side of "why do all that when x y and z tower can do it without supports" which leads into what i think is the main problem of the community which is oversimplifing the meta. Why use x when y is better and frankly i feel like that mindset kinda ruins the game.
Nowadays its repeating the same 3 points from each side with no real outcome. A infinite tug of war if you will. And thats kinda how each debate compiring towers go, we made up our minds already so whats the point in arguing if we cant change the other persons side.- 1
TDS is a strategy game. You intentionally use better towers and avoid worse ones. I don’t use Scout in Voidcore because that would lead to a loss. I don’t use Necromancer instead of Accelerator because that would lead to a loss.
I used to glaze Necromancer until I realized Juggernaut was simply better. Necromancer would do worse no matter the map, supports, enemy type, etc. There is no reason to use Necromancer in this current meta.- 1
You said it yourself. TDS is a strategy game. That means if you are committed to using something you should find a way to use it.

Make him more op and not a main dps because most main dps towers have a big thing in common, they are consistent. Juggernaut is better against bosses but still does 1900 by itself.
Accelerator does not require any ability else than it's charging to make its full power. Kingpin compensates dependance of units with main tower dps.
But towers like enforcers compensate their lack of late game main dps with gimmicks that make it more useful throughout the whole game for example his defensive swat vans, reposition or stun. Necro would be way better if it was a more consistent and less depending mid game tower for example making it cheaper or making it have a new gimmick that makes it important in late game and then moving his main late game functionality (the graves) with a better efficiency in middle game but not so consistent in late game and that is where the new gimmick could come in to make it a passive tower rather than an active tower (a tower that depends on you to polish itself).
This is kinda confusing but I hope my idea is understood.
Also another great example is merc base, even though it is already a passive tower the active ability of dropping units is compensated with a passive capacity to buff close towers - 0
It's not much of a strategy game if you're using the same tower and same strategy every time if you're just using the best towers. Plus it adds more fun to the game if you use many different towers in different modes or maps to explore their pros and cons.

"when he was meta" he was and never will be meta, devs wanted necro to focus on end game dps but he fails at that, he is cost inefficient even when including skeletons, detections are way too expensive, skeleton damage is meaningless until max level, gaps are way too big in between upgrade costs and worst of all, he doesnt even work as a damage oriented tower, his placement limit is too small to have any meaningful damage output compared to others of his caliber (Accel), his "burst" damage isnt even that good due to how long the setup is and how un-instant the damage is (12k damage that will take a long time to reach the frontlines, explosion damage that is meaningless, skeletons do barely any dps due to their melee nature, executioner skeleton cant aim for shit, and the moment enemies go past your graves, its wraps)
the hate started because the way the devs worded his rebalance looked like they would make him a good competitor to accel, but theyre just wrong- 1
necro was good post shock and awe because he was synergetic with merc base (at the time the best tower in the game alongside hacker) and merc bases medics (which you were GUARNTEED to use anyways if you knew how to use merc), freeze wasn't gutted aswell so bring the right setup and suddenly your stacking a crap ton of skeleton knights and high hp hallow guards and executioner skeletons and achieving record levels of dps. Also the fact that he essentially had controlled burst damage that was reliable because... Well you were in control.

"DEPENDING on synergy for any decent performance" accel can do similar dps and more often than not more dps than even juggernaut without any supports, necromancer depending on other towers to decently perform as a dps is one of the many reasons why it sucks

cause it's both funny and also because there is no joy in using the tower where you have to actually try to use it effectively, at that point why bother when you can place down a tower that doesn't require you to pay attention and you have the same feeling
