They're not a manifestation of Penumbras' negative emotions. Echo of Resentment is stated to be Penumbras' old teacher who was tasked to teach him how to cast spells and learn to conceive them from the public since he was gifted with magic during the medieval times where any ties to that aspect is subjected to torment for sorcery. He got the title of Resentment after he got killed during the tragic incident of the kingdom burnt by Penumbras' during Umbra's awakening., basically becoming nothing but a husk of deep regret and wrath. Echo of Guilt, meanwhile is an entity that has the ability to tunnel the thoughts of people he wishes to see, using the person's worst memory as a weapon to their weakness. Not much origin is known about this one but it is presumed it was born sometime after Umbra formed the tower when her army rised.
