Description

[edit]

The Molten Boss is the final boss in Molten mode. It also appears as the second major boss in Hardcore mode.

Like most other major bosses, the Molten Boss moves very slowly, but it has an extremely high amount of health. It also has burn and freeze immunity. Additionally, it has several abilities, making it a challenge to beat.

Its first ability is Stomp which will create a shockwave and stun towers that are hit. Its second ability is Scythe Slam which will summon six random enemies. In Molten mode, it can summon the Molten and rarely the Molten Titan. In Hardcore mode, it can summon the Lava and Molten Titan. Its third attack is Fireball. The Molten Boss throws an explosive fireball at a tower. This sets the tower targeted and all towers around it on fire, stunning them for a period of time.

Appearance

[edit]

The current version of the Molten Boss is similar to the third version, except it has a slash across its forehead, with drooping lines leaking from it.

The third version of the Molten Boss had glowing orange-red skin. It had magma horns on its head as well as magma arms. It had menacing orange eyes and walked slightly hunchback. It had black cobblestone armor, completed with pauldrons, gloves and boots, with a sun insignia imprinted on its torso. It also had metal armbands. Flaming spikes could also seen on its back torso and legs. As it walked, it left behind a lava trail. On its back was an orange-red scythe.

Strategy

[edit]
  • The Freezer, Frost Blaster and Sledger cannot slow down the Molten Boss.
    • The Electroshocker can only slow down the Molten Boss for a very short period of time due to its large size, even though it does not have energy immunity.
    • The Toxic Gunner cannot slow this down because of its poison immunity.
  • Be sure to have towers capable of eliminating the Moltens (or Lavas) and Molten Titans that the Molten Boss can summon.
  • As with most major bosses, the Minigunner, Ranger, Turret, and Accelerator are recommended for their high DPS.
    • The Commander can also be used to boost the firerate of these towers with its ability.
    • The DJ Booth can also help to increase the range of these towers.
  • You cannot defend your towers against the Fireball attack if your towers do not have immunity to stun. Additionally, the attack has quite a long range and can even hit cliff towers.
    • You can mitigate its effects by not grouping towers together.
    • Air-based towers are immune to this attack. Additionally, the Gladiator can block this stun, so long it did not block another attack within the last 10 seconds.
    • A few Scouts can be used to distract the Molten Boss, making it less likely to throw the fireball at other towers.
  • You can use the Medic's ability to cleanse towers of the Molten Boss's Fireball and Stomp stun.

Trivia

[edit]
  • Until the Gravekeeper was added, this was the only regular major boss in the game.
    • However, the Swordmaster predates the Molten Boss by six days.
  • There was once a glitch where you could place a tower on the body of the Molten Boss when it was killed.
  • The Molten Boss was originally the logo of Paradoxum Games, the group that owns Tower Defense Simulator.
  • Before the MEGA Update, the phrase "Everything changed... When the Fire Nation attacked.", which was played before the Molten Boss appeared, was a reference to the opening of the show Avatar: The Last Airbender.
  • The magma horns on the Molten Boss are a re-textured version of Fiery Horns Of The Netherworld accessory from the Roblox catalog.
  • The Commander's dialogue before the Molten Boss appears calls the Molten Boss the Molten Titan.
    • This is most likely a developer oversight.
  • Prior to the MEGA Update, the Molten Boss had two additional abilities.
    • The first was Scythe Raise which healed between 350 and 735 health over a period of 3.5 seconds.
    • The second was Scythe Swing. The Molten Boss would swing its scythe, stunning all towers in a 15 stud radius.
  • The Molten Boss appeared alongside Fallen King on the old "You Lost" screen.
  • The Molten Boss' third final wave music is the same song as Battle Royale by Alec Koff.
    • The current theme is a remix of the same song.

Description

[edit]

The Mystery Boss is an enemy that will spawn a random enemy upon its death. The enemy spawned depends on the mode and wave. As the name implies, the Mystery Boss mostly spawns bosses that have high health or enemies that are quick, meaning that it is a very dangerous enemy. Its health depends on the mode you are playing on.

The Mystery Boss appears on all modes, but has variable health depending on the difficulty you are playing on. It has similar speed to the Molten and Heavy.

This enemy is spawned by the Summoner Boss, Grave Digger (Normal mode only), Void Reaver (Legacy) and Mystery Summoner.

Appearance

[edit]

The Mystery Boss is a purple-blue, translucent enemy with a glowing orange question mark on its torso. Its leg is twisted and its head is pointing slightly downwards as it walks. It is also faceless.

Enemies Spawned

[edit]

The Mystery Boss is able to spawn more enemies after its debut. Italic names can be spawned from the Mystery Boss's debut.

Strategy

[edit]
  • Kill the Mystery Boss as quickly as possible. If left for too long, it will advance far into your defense and, upon its death, may spawn a high health enemy near the end of the path, almost certainly resulting in a defeat.
  • Use high DPS towers, such as the Minigunner, Ranger, Turret, Accelerator or Pursuit, to fight the Mystery Boss.**The Commander may also be required to boost the firerate of these towers so that you can can deal with most of the spawned enemies.
    • You can also use units, like those from the Military Base vehicles, to prevent the spawned enemies from getting out of range of your towers.
  • The Freezer, Frost Blaster, Sledger, Toxic Gunner and Electroshocker can slow down the Mystery Boss and the enemies it spawns.
    • Be aware that most of the spawned enemies are large in size. This reduces the effectiveness of the Freezer, Frost Blaster, Sledger and Electroshocker.***Additionally, some enemies have energy immunity. This renders the Electroshocker nearly useless against these enemies.
        • However, the Toxic Gunner is not affected by any immunities or enemy sizes.
  • The enemies that spawn from the Mystery Boss do not need to be killed for wave progression to occur.
    • If you are speedrunning a map, you should focus on killing the Mystery Bosses first before moving onto the enemies that spawn. However, be aware that this may overwhelm your defenses if you are not careful.
  • The Rocketeer and Mortar can help defeat hordes of Mystery Boss as they normally spawn close to each other.
    • However, be aware that in Fallen and Hardcore modes, the Mystery Boss has quite high health that may require several projectiles to kill.
    • Do also note that these towers have low DPS, which means they will struggle to kill most enemies spawned by the Mystery Boss due to their high health.
  • A Level 5 Pyromancer can easily kill hordes of Mystery Bosses, alongside decreasing the defense of enemies that spawned from it, such as the Giant Boss or Fallen Hero.
  • You can set some of your tower's targetting to Weakest to increase the chance they will be attacking the Mystery Boss.

Trivia

[edit]
  • The Mystery Boss, alongside the Mystery, are the only enemies to spawn in every mode.
    • They are also the only enemies that change their statistics depending on wave or mode, not including MEGA Scaling or Eggy Island enemies.
      • However, some major bosses can have different enemies that they can summon depending on the mode.
  • There was a glitch whereby the Mystery Boss, after its death, it could go to the next turn and stop there with its walking animation still playing. This was just a visual bug and did not affect gameplay in any way.
  • For some reason, the Mystery Boss debuted on wave 29 for Golden mode.
  • Strangely, the Mystery Boss has more health in Normal mode than in Molten mode.
    • This is likely a developer oversight, the health was forgotten to be decreased in Normal mode, even though it was decreased in Molten mode.
  • Prior to the Entity System update, summoned enemies from the Mystery Boss used to say "Mystery's ______" instead of "Mystery Boss's ______".
  • The question mark on the Mystery Boss is a re-textured version of the Question Mark accessory from the Roblox catalog.
  • Prior to the Entity System Update, Mystery Bosses summoned by the Summoner Boss could be stuck in the air.
  • This, along with the Shadow Boss, are the only enemies that do not change appearance in Polluted Wasteland II.

Description

[edit]

The Mystery Summoner, formerly the Mystery Boss, is a boss enemy that summons Mysteries and rarely Mystery Bosses. The Mystery Summoner does not spawn into anything when it is killed.

The Mystery Summoner is quite slow and, while it has more health than the Speedy Boss, it has a slower speed than it. However, its main threat is the Mysteries and Mystery Bosses that it spawns. It also previously had freeze immunity.

The Mystery Summoner only spawns in Normal and Molten modes.

Appearance

[edit]

The current version of the Mystery Summoner, is like the previous version, except it has no mouth

The second version of the Mystery Summoner had lime green skin and walked hunchbacked. Its torso and legs were marble green and it wore marble dark green shoes. On its torso was a glowing green question mark. It also wore a light green cape. It had grey diamond-plated armbands and dark green wrappings around its left arm. It had menacing glowing green eyes, a drooling zombie face and it wore a green bowler hat. It held a mystery staff to summon enemies.

The original version of the Mystery Summoner had light green skin, its torso was marble green and its legs were dark marble green. On its torso was a glowing green question mark. It had green glowing eyes, had a drooling zombie face, had green diamond-plated armbands, and wore a green bowler hat. It also carried a mystery staff to summon enemies.

==Strategy==*A couple of Level 4 Minigunners, Level 5 Turrets, Accelerators or Rangers can kill this easily.

  • Try to kill the Mystery Summoner before it spawns a horde of Mysteries or Mystery Bosses, which may cause serious problems as they can spawn enemies with high health, such as the Slow Boss and the Speedy Boss.**For maps that have a distance between the spawnpoint of enemies and where the main towers are, this enemy may pose a serious threat.
  • Treat the Mystery Summoner like the Necromancer. Subdue the enemies it spawns, then focus on the boss.
    • For this reason, the Rocketeer, Mortar and Demoman can be quite useful against the Mystery Summoner as they can harm the enemies it spawns in large numbers.
      • Do not rely on these towers to kill the Mystery Summoner on their own, due to their low DPS.
    • Piercing towers like Archer or Slasher can also damage all of the enemy spawns if positioned correctly.

Trivia

[edit]
  • The appearance of the Mystery Summoner is a reference to the Batman villain, The Riddler.
    • The appearance is also quite similar to the Seventh Doctor from Doctor Who who carries an umbrella with a question mark-shaped handle.
  • There was a short period of time when the Mystery Summoner was added (then called the Mystery Boss) where it was called the Speedy Boss due to a bug.
  • Prior to the Entity System Update, summoned enemies from the Mystery Summoner are called "Mystery Boss's ______" instead of "Mystery Summoner's ______".
  • The question mark on the Mystery Summoner is a re-textured version of the Question Mark accessory from the Roblox catalog.
    • The bowler used by the Mystery Summoner is the Kilty McJig's Irish Bowler accessory from the Roblox catalog.
    • The cape used by the Mystery Summoner is a re-textured version of the Black Iron Cape accessory from the Roblox catalog.*Ironically this enemy appears more in Normal mode (three times) than in Molten (only twice), despite the latter mode being supposedly harder.
    • The Speedy Boss shares this trait as well.***This is likely due to the Molten Titan.
