Description

Paradoxical mode is one of the regular modes, being one of two of the hardest modes in the game. It can only be played by using the Hardcore Elevator or the Hardcore Matchmaking button at the bottom screen. This mode rewards Error creating thumbnail: File missing Gems instead of Error creating thumbnail: File missing Coins, unlike the other modes. Paradoxical mode has 70 waves. In this mode, shared cash is 0%, and most enemies only give cash upon being killed. In this mode, there is also an 50% placement and a 100% upgrade price increase. Additionally, this mode has the HP Locked modifier, which makes it so the base health is always set to 100, regardless of players' Fortify Skill Level, which is disabled along with every other skill. Mutation is also applied, which increases the health of enemies by 10% each wave, but gets disabled after Wave 55. You need to be at least Level 100 to play this mode, and you're allowed to bring six towers instead of the normal five. Hardcore towers, are banned in Paradoxical mode. Placement footprints are also decreased by 80%. Placement limits are increased to 60 in Paradoxical mode and all placement limits on towers are increased by 25%. You cannot play Solo unless you have beaten Paradoxical mode in Duo, Trio, and Quad, or by only triumphing Paradoxical mode in under 35 minutes. Playing Squad and Mega is allowed. The Slasher has special statistics only exclusive to Paradoxical mode, which you cannot view yet, as the page has not made yet.

Paradoxical mode can only be played on maps with a Hard or Insane difficulty. Other maps with any other difficulty cannot be selected, even with the map select feature. Crossroads is an exception, but can only be played once before another map has to be played to play on Crossroads again, even if it's one person who previously played Crossroads. For example, in a Duo match, you can play Crossroads. But you cannot select it again unless you've triumphed it on another map. Once you've done that at least once, you can play on Crossroads again.

Paradoxical mode has three versions: Regular, Easter Egg, and April Fool's. The Regular version is the normal version of Paradoxical mode; the mode that players will get after unlocking Paradoxical mode. The Easter Egg version is the second version of Paradoxical mode, by beating the mode in under 35 minutes. This version has soundtracks played with a -50% pitch change and faint static playing at the final wave. The wave structure and dialogue is also changed. Only the Commander is shown, as the Narrator was not notified, and Void Caster died. This can be reverted, by holding down the gamemode icon for 1 second. After doing so, a pop-up will appear, asking to revert Paradoxical mode to its Regular version. Clicking YES will put you in the Regular version instead of staying in its Easter Egg version. The final version, April Fool's can only be seen from April 1st to April 7th of every year. Its main purpose is to have the dialogue be more humorous and jokeful.

In Regular Paradoxical mode, the formula for calculating wave bonus on each wave is:

In Easter Egg Paradoxical, the formula for calculating wave bonus on each wave is:

The waves in Paradoxical mode can be skipped, although they cannot be skipped through Auto Skip. They follow these timings:

Bolded names indicate an enemy type's debut.
An ellipsis (...) indicates the delay from one enemy to another is longer then 5 seconds.
A capital X indicates the spawn delay from one enemy is shorter than 0.5 seconds.
A hyphen inbetween the spawn amount (1-x) indicates the spawn delay from one enemy is longer than 1 second.
A hyphen next to the number amount (-1x) indicates the enemy starts spawning before the previous enemy has finished spawning in its set of enemies.

Synopsis

Void Caster, along with part of the T.D.S. Organization, being the Scout, Accelerator, Hacker, Commander, Minigunner, and Ranger, are shown at Crossroads, despite it not being an available map in Paradoxical mode. The camera starts at the ground, far away and aiming up at the group.

The camera cuts to be closer, showing Void Caster more clearly leaning on a rock, right next to the exit as she begins her speech to the T.D.S. Organization. The camera occasionally switches to the towers standing in front of Void Caster, with them tilting their heads and looking at each other in sympathy.

Void Caster pulls out a fragment of the God Cube from her book, handing it to the T.D.S. Organization, specifically the Commander. Void Caster gets shot in the head and falls to the ground right as their hands touch. Void Caster submerges into the ground and vanishes.

The camera quickly turns around to the Commander holding the God Cube with one hand and his radio with another. The radio soon blasts static and the Dispatcher speaks from the other end, warning the others that Lord Exo could be nearby and might kill them next, forcing the T.D.S. Organization to evacuate out of Crossroads.

Once the T.D.S. Organization evacuates, the camera transitions to Lord Exo, watching them run out of Crossroads with the map beginning to turn corrupted in black and purple binary code. The camera soon cuts to the front of Lord Exo's face, slowly zooming into his face and the saturation and contrast slowly increasing and the field of view decreasing drastically. After Lord Exo finishes his sentence, screaming can be heard getting louder, sounding like Void Caster, before the screen unexpectedly cuts to black.

The Commander walks up to where Void Caster once was, crouching down to examine the ground.

  • This was initially called Paradoxical Mode because Hardcore Mode was overused and is just overall boring, along with the word paradoxical being similar to the game's studio name, being Paradoxum Games.
    • It has since been remade and reworked to be a part 2 to Hardcore mode.
  • The dialogue is merely fan-fiction, and none of this will ever be canon or made into the real game.
  • The first enemy of Paradoxical mode has stats somewhat based on the first enemy in Hardcore mode of Noob Tower Defense.
  • There is some lore connected to the characters shown in Paradoxical mode.
    • The player plays as the Soldier, hence why they always call the player "Soldier".
    • The Dispatcher does not make an appearance in Paradoxical mode due to complexity with the communication systems she could not fix until way later in the special cutscene.
    • The Commander is 21-years-old.
    • The Void Caster is a 19-year-old who was watching the fight take place from outside of the players' vision, not making her appearance until Wave 70. Her real name is Lucia, but is more commonly know as the Void Caster.
    • The Narrator came back and did not die, due to Act III in Lunar Overture not being canon and his entire theatre being in ruins since the T.D.S. Organization destroyed it after Act II.
    • All bosses got powered by a God Cube fragment and got both resurrected by the Void Caster and became way more powerful.
  • In Version 1 of the Easter Egg version of Paradoxical mode, Void Caster is not present, instead being replaced by the Commander and Lord Exo.
  • This concept could've been finished in early-mid October, though was delayed twice due to personal reasons and procrastination.
    • The creator has stated these "personal reasons" numerous times.
  • There are some new attributes added to this concept.
    • The first new attribute is called Pure Damage, this means that the only way to deal damage to that enemy is by raw damage, damage such as from the Minigunner, Accelerator, or Engineer. Towers that attack a different way, such as shocks like the Electroshocker, burn like the Pyromancer, or poison like the Toxic Gunner will not be able to damage the enemy in any way.
    • The second new attribute is called Deflective, this means that the enemy is practically the opposite of Aggro, to which these enemies are forcibly targeted last, disregarding any targeting. For example, if the current strongest enemy has Deflective and a Ranger is set to Strongest, it will not target that enemy until it is the last enemy on the map.
    • The third new attribute is called Poison Immunity, this means enemies with this immunity are immune to all damages that are posion-based. Poison slowdown does not work on enemies with this modifier either.
    • The other new attributes are Vulnerable Attributes, this means that whatever enemy with this attribute takes 3x more damage from towers that attack that way. For example, Pure Vulnerability means that the enemy takes 3x damage from towers that attack normally, towers such as the Engineer, Commando (without its missiles), or Ranger (normal damage only). There is a list of vulnerability attributes, those being:
      • Stun Vulnerability
      • Fire Vulnerability
      • Ice Vulnerability
      • Poison Vulnerability
      • Splash Vulnerability
      • Pure Vulnerability
      • Golden Vulnerability
    • This is connected to the lore, as Void Caster gave some enemies Vulnerable Attributes to tease and mock the T.D.S. Organization, thinking they're not strong enough to kill her minions without assistance.

  • There is no lose dialogue for when you lose in Paradoxical mode, unlike the other modes.
  • In Wave 44 of April Fool's Paradoxical mode, Void Caster makes fun of the Commander for using abbreviations.
    • This is in reference of the creator really hating the abbreviations for towers, as they find them, and people who use them lazy.
  • This is currently the biggest concept this creator has ever made, taking possibly the longest to work on, as well as the page itself being ~140,000 Bytes, double of their other biggest concepts, such as the Frostfire Event, which only has ~68,000 Bytes.
    • This also has the most custom images (images that the creator made and uploaded) out of all of their other concepts, being around 49.
