T.D.S. Organization
Description
The T.D.S. Organization (Threat Defense Strategy Organization[10]), is the protagonist force of the Tower Defense Simulator storyline.
Their duty is to fight against the zombies, monsters and other enemies who so wish to pose a challenge to the security of the Overworld and other realms. The history and founding of the organization is unknown, along with its founders and the primary cause for its creation.
During the span of the organization's existence, its members have fought a variety of foes, ranging from the five survival mode bosses, to many of the event bosses. A handful of these opponents have been fought against multiple times, such as Krampus, the Ducky D00Ms, and according to in-game dialogues and trailers, the Molten Warlord, and the Fallen King.
Notable Members
In gameplay, and in trailers, we are shown various members of the organization, varying from regular soldiers to scientists. Out of these, there are at least five notable members of the organization. There exists a type of command hierarchy within the organization's members as alluded to by gameplay and content clues. The Dispatcher, Commander and potentially the player are the only high-ranking members known. It is suggested that there are higher positions above the Commander and the Dispatcher in the T.D.S. Organization, as the Commander was required to get authorization before confronting the Narrator in The Final Act Event.[11] Other agents are suggested to be ranked lower than them; all towers are assumed to be agents of the T.D.S. Organization.
Other agents working for the T.D.S. Organization exist, which is shown through dialogue, null enemies and Logbooks, but they are not shown on-screen within canon material. These likely include every tower in the game which is not seen during cutscenes or trailers, but can be seen in the actual gameplay.
Dispatcher
The Dispatcher is the dispatch officer and intelligence specialist for the T.D.S. Organization. She helps supply on-duty agents with crucial information about their current foe, and is responsible for the field deployment of agents. The winged pin she wears on her vest that sports the T.D.S. Organization's logo suggests that she is a fairly high-ranking member within the agency. The broader significance and purpose of this rank is unknown.
The in-game dialogue for Outpost 16 says that the Dispatcher used to work in the field[12], either as a field commander or an agent.
The Dispatcher first appears in the storyline during the Hexscape Event in Failed Gateway, and has since been present for the Tower Defense Simulator x PLS DONATE Event, Operation I.C.E Event, Ducky Revenge Event, and Null & Void Event. The last aforementioned event being her latest appearance, where she was captured by Lord Exo to be made into a vessel for The Umbra.
Commander
The Commander is the field commander for the T.D.S. Organization. His job is to lead and command on-duty agents on the battlefield. The winged crest on his cap suggests that the Commander is one of the few high-ranking individuals within the organization, as with the likes of the Dispatcher. The Commander primarily appears in his default Level 2 variant.
According to the Null Missile APC Logbook, the Missile APC was the first vehicle Commander had ever commanded after his first promotion.[13]
The Commander's first appearance within canon material was during the Solar Eclipse Event trailer, and has since been present for the Duck Hunt Event, Violent Night Event, Lunar Overture Event, Hexscape Event, Tower Defense Simulator x PLS DONATE Event, Operation I.C.E Event, Null & Void Event, and The Final Act Event.
Scout
The Scout is one of the agents who works for the T.D.S. Organization. It is unknown if his label has any correlation to his role on the battlefield, however, his weaponry suggests that he is a sort of light infantry. The Scout appears within the story primarily as his default Level 4 variant.
The Scout is possibly of a higher position than other agents in the organization, as he was shown leading the Soldier and the Pyromancer on a mission in the Ducky Revenge Event.
The Scout's first appearance within the canon is during the Solar Eclipse Event trailer, and has since been present for Violent Night Event, Hexscape Event, Tower Defense Simulator x PLS DONATE Event, Operation I.C.E Event, Ducky Revenge Event, Null & Void Event, and The Final Act Event. The Scout has also made appearances in non-event material such as the Halloween 2022 Update trailer and the Hacker Update trailer.
Minigunner
The Minigunner is another one of the agents who work for the T.D.S. Organization. His label is representative of role on the battlefield—wielding a minigun to mow down hordes of enemies. He is shown in his default Level 1 variant.
The Minigunner's first appearance within canon material is in the Hexscape Event. He has since made an appearance in the Null & Void Event, being one of the few agents shown on-screen to be sucked into the Nil Zone.
Professor V
Professor V is one of the researchers that work for the T.D.S. Organization. Her work has benefitted the agency in several ways, such as her technology that allows field agents to see that kind of modifiers certain enemies possess.[14] But most notably, her work on interdimensional travel using God Cube shards that she was enlisted for in the aftermath of the Hexscape Event.[15]
The in-game dialogue for the Null & Void Event says that Professor V has been making technology in Cyber City for years.[16] Though, it is unknown whether this was done under the supervision of the T.D.S. Organization, or by her own agenda.
Professor V's first appearance in the storyline of Tower Defense Simulator was during the Operation I.C.E Event. She has since made appearances in the Ducky Revenge Event, and the Null & Void Event.
Bases
The different bases that the T.D.S. Organization operates within are spread out in diverse locations. Each base is different than the other, serving distinct purposes.
T.D.S. Headquarters
T.D.S. Headquarters, also known as T.D.S. HQ, or just HQ, is the main base of operations for the T.D.S. Organization. From there is where the organization dispatches its field agents and debriefs them on the threats they face.
Several parts of HQ have been shown in the various cutscenes throughout the game. The debriefing room is one of these places, there, the agents would be given information about the threat they are about to go up against. The Dispatcher also uses the debriefing room to watch over agents on the field. The control room is a location where the Commander reviewed information following the aftermath of Project God Merger and Lord Exo's freedom, not much else is known about this place. Mission Staging is the location where the agents would suit up to get ready before being deployed out on to the field, multiple vehicles are also seen around the place due to the large bay doors that opened up to the outside world.
Outpost 32
Outpost 32 is the designated portal research base under the control of the T.D.S. Organization. From there, multiple researchers, such as Professor V and the Analyst, are tasked with understanding how the God Cube shards can be used for interdimensional travel.
It has been stated that Outpost 32 is T.D.S.'s most advanced facility,[17] which would explain why the personnel working there look to have more advanced equipment than the contemporary equipment that the field agents possess.
The title of Outpost 32 suggests that there are at least 32 recognized outposts under T.D.S. jurisdiction.
Outpost 16
Outpost 16 is the testing facility that the T.D.S. Organization used to facilitate Professor V and the Nerd Duck's Project God Merger, which aimed to merge all of the T.D.S. Organization's accumulated God Cube fragments into one unified whole. Though, after the project went awry, the facility incurred heavy damage, and is in the process of being repaired as of The Final Act Event.[18]
Outpost 16 is located up in the mountains away from Cyber City, for this reason, it is also known as the "Cyber City Facility" by T.D.S.[18]
Allies
While not members of the T.D.S. Organization, there are certain individuals who work with the agency on occasion to achieve common goals.
Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus
Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus are two individuals that reside within the North Pole.
Santa's first known endeavors with the T.D.S. Organization is during the Christmas 2019 Event. While the details are unclear, it is known for sure that the T.D.S. Organization dispatched agents to the North Pole to combat Krampus's invasion there. Whether Santa was present for the event is also unclear, but he at least has knowledge about this battle.[19]
In the Violent Night Event, a mysterious force, later revealed to be Lord Exo, mind controlled Santa's elves, turning them against him to build weapons of mass destruction with their Christmas magic. Mrs. Claus was the one to inform the T.D.S. Organization about this, leading to them to once again embark to the North Pole to liberate Santa.
The most recent case of the T.D.S. Organization and Santa Claus working together was in the Krampus' Revenge Event, where Krampus returns from his defeat to mind control Santa's elves. Santa was luckily spared from whatever wrath he may have incurred, and served as an informant to the T.D.S. agents that were deployed to deal with the new threat.
Nerd Duck
The Nerd Duck, as he is referred to, is the son of Ducky D00M, and is the de facto leader of the ducks.
He was initially encountered by T.D.S. during the Duck Hunt Event, as the Nerd Duck came with his army seeking revenge on T.D.S. on behalf of his deceased father[20], whom they had killed. However, the Nerd Duck was defeated, but had survived and escaped to the Duck Realm.
During the Ducky Revenge Event, T.D.S. agents were sent into the Duck Realm to search for a God Cube fragment they had detected, but they came across the Nerd Duck and his people, who were harnessing the God Cube fragment for a Mecha Bunny[21]. The agents defeat the Nerd Duck, and Professor V comes into the Duck Realm to recruit the him into the T.D.S. Organization for his engineering prowess.
In the Null & Void Event, as the Nerd Duck has been in the T.D.S. Organization for some time, he worked with Professor V on "Project God Merger" to merge the God Cube fragments they have collected into a partial cube, which ends up failing and causing the events of first Null & Void Event night.
Story
Events mentioned chronologically follow some sort of interconnection within the storyline, and can be cross-referenced with other events. The extent of this interconnection is unreliable, as some events cannot be verified to have accurate places on the timeline.
Events mentioned non-chronologically can not be cross-referenced with other events to gauge a point on the timeline. Their ordering is arbitrary, and is not meant to be taken as one coming before the other, and vice versa.
Chronological
Halloween 2019
During the Halloween 2019 Event, the T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to deal with the Jack O' Bot and its forces in Nightmare Carnival, who are invading to collect a God Cube fragment held at the carnival[9]. The Jack O' Bot is defeated and presumed to be destroyed. It is unknown whether the T.D.S. Organization knew about The Umbra's connection to the Jack O' Bot at the time. What happened to the God Cube fragment in Nightmare Carnival is also unclear. Nightmare Carnival is located within the Overworld.
Christmas 2019
During the Christmas 2019 Event, the T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to fight Krampus in the Village of Despair. Krampus is defeated, but not killed. It is unknown whether Krampus fled, or faced an alternative fate that resulted in his life being spared. It is very likely that the Village of Despair is located in the North Pole, as the location could be seen in the Violent Night Event trailer.
Spring 2020
During the Spring 2020 Event, the T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to fight against Ducky D00M and its army of Easter-themed monsters on Eggy Island. Ducky D00M is defeated, and presumably killed. Eggy Island is most likely located within the Overworld.
Halloween 2020
During the Halloween 2020 Event, The Umbra dispatched Lord Sinister to Trick or Threat Town in order to retrieve the God Cube fragment that the town held[9]. The T.D.S. Organization responds to the attack by sending agents to fight against Lord Sinister and its haunted army. The Narrator makes his first appearance here, however, it is unknown whether the T.D.S. agents were aware of his presence or not. Lord Sinister is defeated and is presumed dead, and the town is left in ruins, leading to its citizens abandoning it.[22] Trick or Threat Town is located within the Overworld.
The God Cube fragment which was in Trick or Threat Town was not collected by either Lord Sinister or the T.D.S. Organization, instead, it was left with the Narrator who would later be found by Ramiel, Kronus and Marcellus.[23] It is unknown whether Titus was also present at this time.
Solar Eclipse
The Dark Sun's[8] conquest begins during the Solar Eclipse Event.
Night 1
The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to Rotfield to defeat Jaxe. Jaxe is defeated, and was presumed dead. This was not the case, though, as he was either revived or reawakened into Headless Jaxe. Rotfield is located within the Overworld.
Night 2
The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to Foggy Forest to fight the Swamp Monster. The Swamp Monster is defeated, but is not killed. This is due to the Solar Eclipse Event trailer, which has the Swamp Monster at the outskirts of Totality Tower, suggesting he has survived. Foggy Forest is located within the Overworld.
Night 3
The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents at the Tower Outskirts to take the battle to The Umbra. As shown in the trailer, but not in gameplay, the Swamp Monster emerges from the gate of the tower to challenge the T.D.S. agents yet again. The Swamp Monster was likely killed in action. Penumbras makes his presence known, and sends out hordes of monsters to push the agents away from the gate. Penumbras deploys himself onto the battlefield, and is eventually defeated, and likely succumbed to his wounds.
Night 4
The on-duty T.D.S. agents ascend to the top of Totality Tower, where they encounter The Umbra. The Umbra intimidates the agents, and attempts to destroy them with her forces. The Umbra eventually involves herself in the battle against the agents, however, she is defeated by them. The Umbra's fate after her defeat is unclear, but it is likely that she was banished to the Nil Zone, as her crown could be found there during in the first Null & Void Event cutscene, along with the fact that her speech became distorted and glitchy upon her defeat.
Duck Hunt
Ducky D00M's son[20], the Nerd Duck, comes for revenge in the Duck Hunt Event. The T.D.S. Organization deploys agents to stop the Nerd Duck and his army of aquatic avians from ruining their harvest. The Nerd Duck is defeated, but was not killed. The location of this battle, D00M's Revenge, is located in the Overworld. It is unknown why the T.D.S. Organization, a supposed paramilitary force, would involve themselves in farming.
Violent Night
A mysterious force had gotten into the minds of Santa's elves. They have turned against, and imprisoned him. Mrs. Claus reaches out to the T.D.S. Organization as a call for help. The T.D.S. Organization deploys agents to stop the mind-controlled elves and their weapon of war, the Mecha-claus. It is heavily implied from the Violent Night Event trailer that Lord Exo was behind this.
Lunar Overture
The Narrator makes his flashy reappearance. He invited the T.D.S. Organization to his "Solar Theatres"[24], leading them to dispatch agents to his show.
Act 1
The Narrator and his actors retell The Umbra's backstory to T.D.S., however, his show was not just entertainment, as the Narrator designed for T.D.S. to actively fight against his actors. Once the Executioner actor was defeated by T.D.S., the Narrator initiates the second act of his show.
Act 2
The Narrator mainly retells the events of the Halloween 2019 Event and Halloween 2020 Event to T.D.S., revealing that the forces in these events were sent by The Umbra in search of God Cube fragments. The first stage of the second act mimics Nightmare Carnival. The second stage of second act mimics Trick or Threat Town. The Jack-o-Bot actor is defeated by T.D.S. Before the Third Act of the Lunar Overture Event could commence, a "glitch,"[25] caused by the Rift Walker forcefully reversing the flow of time,[26] happens that prevents it from starting, leaving it as a fading memory of a battle that never happened.
Krampus' Revenge
Krampus returns in the Krampus' Revenge Event. Some time between his initial defeat, and reappearance, Krampus discovered a God Cube fragment and used it to empower himself. The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to fight against Krampus and his army of mind controlled elves. Krampus is defeated, and presumably killed, putting a stop to him once and for all. It is likely that all stages of the Krampus Frosthold are located in The North Pole.
Hexscape
The Children of Exo's plan to free Lord Exo begins.
Night 1
During the Hexscape Event, the T.D.S. Organization is alerted of God Cube signatures and dispatches agents to Eclipsed Village[27] to investigate. After learning that the source of the God Cube readings came from the Children of Exo trying to open a portal to the Nil Zone, the agents changed their plan into stopping the cultists. Once Titus was defeated, the cultists' portal finished activation, causing Titus, along with the T.D.S. agents, to get sucked inside.
Night 2
Now inside the Hex Realm, the stranded agents were contacted by the Dispatcher. They were urged to rebuild the broken computer sucked inside the realm with them, as it was their only chance at escaping. All the while, they had to fight back against the Conserver and its hex minions. The Conserver was defeated, and the agents jumped through the newly activated portal.
Night 3
Much to the agents' dismay, the portal malfunctioned and did not shut off after their escape. This led to remaining hex monsters invading into the Overworld. The agents had to fight back against the hex enemies, along with the Primordial Drakobloxxer that was unleashed because of the Conserver's defeat. In the midst of their battle, Titus and the Conserver return, corrupted by the energy given off from the Primordial Drakobloxxer's release. They are both defeated, followed by the Primordial Drakobloxxer. The Children of Exo swooped in at the last second and stole the God Cube fragment from the defeated Primordial Drakobloxxer. The T.D.S. agents ran to stop them, but the cultists disappeared through the portal right before it shut off.
Tower Defense Simulator x PLS DONATE
During the Pls Donate Event, the stability of the Pls Donate realm is threatened by Corrupted Haz3mn. The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents within the realm to maintain its security. Corrupted Haz3mn is defeated, and the agents finish their mission.
Operation I.C.E
As the agents returned from their mission in the Pls Donate realm, they were mysteriously rerouted to the organization's portal research base. The Dispatcher and the outpost faculty were alarmed as they later realized that this was no accident, as Ramiel would infiltrate the portal control room to complete "Operation Intercept Commander and Eliminate". The agents geared up to defend the outpost from the waves of frost enemies soon to come out from the portal. Later in the battle, Marcellus and Kronus ventured into the frost realm to awaken the Frost Spirit. The cultists commanded the Frost Spirit to destroy T.D.S. Unfortunately for the Children of Exo, the Frost Spirit was defeated at the outpost and banished into the Nil Zone.[28]
Ducky Revenge
With the help from the Children of Exo's portal keycard, the T.D.S. Organization has unlocked a breakthrough in portal technology. In their search of God Cube fragments, a band of agents were deployed to the Duck Realm, home to the Nerd Duck. The ducks had rebuilt an army since the last time they were defeated during the Duck Hunt Event, and fought against the T.D.S. agents. While they were defeated, the Nerd Duck was recruited to work with the T.D.S. Organization. The location of this event, Bathroom Approach, is within the Duck Realm.
Null & Void
Professor V and Nerd Duck's "Project God Merger" is being tested at Outpost 16, where they hope to merge all of their collected God Cube fragments in hope to create a partial God Cube.
Night 1
The project goes awry, and during the merging, the energy given off by the God Cube fragments tears rifts through dimensions, causing portals from the Nil Zone to appear, spilling out hordes of null creatures. Two X, from his domain, is troubled by this, and sends for Rift Walker to "Protect the Meta," which involves the confiscation of T.D.S.'s partial God Cube, and the banishing of the agents to the Nil Zone.
Night 2
The agents end up in the Outer Nil Zone, where they see the Narrator screaming at Titus. The Null Guardian escorting Titus turns his attention onto the agents and Narrator, intending to destroy them. The agents fight against the Null Guardian and kill him. This causes a failsafe to trigger, opening a portal up, sucking them and the Narrator to wherever the Rift Walker was at the moment.
Night 3
The T.D.S. agents are transported to the Rift Walker's location in the Nil Zone, intruding in the midst of his battle against the Children of Exo for the other half of the God Cube. Unfortunately, the Narrator intervenes on behalf of the Children of Exo, leading to them beginning the process of incarnating Lord Exo's soul into the Rift Walker's body. The T.D.S. agents fight back against the newly incarnated Lord Exo, and the Rift Walker manages to suppress Lord Exo's control inside his body enough to force him to take Kronus as his vessel instead to incarnate into his true form. Lord Exo then steals the Dispatcher from the agents and kills the Rift Walker. Professor V and the Nerd Duck open a portal behind the remaining agents to suck them back to Outpost 16.
The Final Act
The Commander leads an unauthorized mission to the military base that the Narrator has taken over for his show. There, they watch the retelling of Lord Exo's origin within the Old World, and how he became trapped in the God Cube after endless war with Two X and his forces. At the end of the show, when the Narrator is dramatically defeated, he strikes up a deal with the Commander, promising to bring him to Lord Exo in exchange for something unknown. It is revealed at the end of this event that Lord Exo incarnated The Umbra into the Dispatcher's body by placing The Umbra's[29] eclipse crown on her head.
Hardcore Mode
TBA
Non-Chronological
Unknown
The T.D.S. Organization seizes Dr. Herrschaft's viral research, repurposing it into the technology for the healing particle beam that the Medic uses.[30]
SFOTH
The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to The Heights to battle the Swordmaster and its army. The Swordmaster was killed, but was resurrected at a later time by the Void Reaver[31]. It is possible that The Heights are located within the Overworld, but its architecture raises questions about this possibility.[32]
Area 51
The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to stop the Raider Boss's raid on Area 51. The Raider Boss is defeated. It is alluded that the Commando could have stolen his armor from Area 51 in its Level 5 upgrade description.[32]
Easy Mode
The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to fight against a detected horde of zombies. The noise from the battle ended up attracting the Brute, ending the mission with the Brute being defeated and the T.D.S. Organization retrieving a God Cube fragment from it.[7]
Casual Mode
The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to fight against more hordes of zombies, which eventually attracts the Grave Digger. The Grave Digger is defeated and the T.D.S. Organization retrieves a God Cube fragment from it.[7]
Intermediate Mode
The T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to check out reports of zombie activity. During this mission, something unusual happens as the zombies begin to mutate during the mission. This leads to Professor V getting involved in the mission, with her analysis concluding that Patient Zero's zombie virus has been getting stronger.
The Professor V after doing some investigating finds out that a virologist named Dr. Herrschaft got fired from a town hospital for experimenting on his patients. He worked on viruses that were thousands of years old and his research ended up being used by the T.D.S. Organization. During this mission, Commander and Professor V end up coming into the conclusion that Patient Zero and Dr. Herrschaft are the same person.
Shortly after the discovery, they detect that Patient Zero is in the area and set their sights on taking him out. They succeed and end up retrieving a God Cube fragment from him.[7] Despite his defeat, the zombie problem persists, even having zombies get attracted to fights the T.D.S. Organization has with other factions, like the Molten.
Molten Mode
The Molten are a group, presumably originating from another realm, which arrives in the Overworld through interdimensional rifts.[33] They are a dangerous faction which has fought the T.D.S. Organization on many occasions as they deem them a worthy challenge.[34]
At one point, the T.D.S. Organization detects that another molten rift has opened and they dispatch a group of agents to deal with it, also attracting some nearby zombies to it. The fighting starts attracting the Molten and eventually leads to the Molten Warlord arriving through the right. It ends up being defeated and the T.D.S. Organization retrieves a God Cube fragment from it.[7] It's quite possible that Molten Mode takes place chronologically some time after Operation I.C.E, due to Professor V mentioning a chained creature coming out of her lab[35], which could be in reference to Experiment 32 that breached containment in Outpost 32.[36]
Fallen Mode
The Fallen are an extradimensional civilization originating from Paradise[37] that currently reside in the Voidlands.[38] It is under the control of the Fallen King, who ever since the whole kingdom was cursed, controls a mindless army[39] that only wants to destroy and wage war with others.[40] They eventually encounter the Overworld, subsequently waging war against the T.D.S. Organization.
At some point, a Fallen Hazmat ends up bringing a a God Cube fragment to the Fallen King. With this newly acquired fragment, the Fallen King ends up properly initiating his plan to begin the apocalypse.[41] After detecting them, the T.D.S. Organization dispatches agents to deal with the Fallen. This ends up getting the attention of the Fallen King, who arrives to the battlefield himself, but ends up being defeated by the T.D.S. Organization and has his God Cube fragment retrieved from him.[7]
If the Hidden Wave is to be taken as part of the canon, then after the Fallen King's defeat, he was awakened to his full power by a mysterious force. However, his power-up was not enough to conquer the T.D.S. Organization, and he was still defeated. In the case of Hidden Wave being canon, the God Cube fragment ends up being retrieves after the Fallen King's second defeat.[7]
Polluted Wasteland II
The T.D.S. Organization deploys agents to the Blackfield Water Treatment Plant[42] to investigate abnormally high levels of radiation being detected there, along with reports of mutated wildlife.[42] The Nuclear Monster makes its appearance in the wasteland, soon to be defeated by the T.D.S. Organization.
Badlands II
The T.D.S. Organization deploys agents to the Badlands to face off against the Gunslinger and its gang of ghoulish desperados. It is presumed that the Cowboy played a role in this mission[43], but it is unknown what kind. The Gunslinger was defeated.
Pizza Party
The T.D.S. Organization deployed an agent, or multiple, to the Wox the Fox Pizzeria as a response to the sudden threat detected there. The T.D.S. Organization forces, which include the Warden[44], managed to fight back against Wox the Fox, ensuring the pizzeria's safety.
