Two X

- Protect the Meta, he can't be freed.
I won't allow it. - ―Two X in the second Outpost 16 cutscene
Description
Two X is an important figure within the story of Tower Defense Simulator as he is the creator of the "Meta,"[1] the figurative world tree from which all realms branch off from. He and his servant, the Rift Walker, dedicate their existence maintaining the stability of the Meta to keep it from collapsing.
Like his brother, Lord Exo, he is a primordial being that has existed since the Old World, being one of the oldest beings in existence. However, it is unknown whether Two X and Lord Exo are eternal beings, or if they, too, have an origin.
Two X was responsible for sealing Lord Exo inside of the God Cube, as thousands of his strongest soldiers offered up their lives in sacrifice to create the cube.[2]
It has been stated that Two X derives his power from the sacrifices that his followers dedicate to him.[3]
Personality
From what was shown in Two X's brief appearance in the Null & Void Event, it can be gathered that he cares deeply for the Meta and the wellbeing of all life that resides within it. This is further backed by the Narrator's testimony of Two X from the Old World, while Lord Exo thrives in chaos, Two X wanted to sustain life and believed everyone had a place in the world.[4]
Since the Meta is his domain of influence, Two X has been shown to understand what goes on inside the realms despite not being omnipresent, as during the Null & Void Event he knew about the plot to free Lord Exo despite not being in the Overworld nor the Nil Zone.[5] But his failure to prevent Lord Exo's freedom doesn't mean Two X can be seen as ignorant or uncaring, rather Two X's failure is because he could not stop Lord Exo in his current state, as he dedicates his power to keeping the Meta intact.[5]

Story
Old World
Long ago, before the Old World even had a form, Two X and Lord Exo sealed the primordial Void away below the foundations of the world, fearing its unbridled power.[7] Afterward, the two brothers lived together in the Old World, both overseeing all of creation.[8] But when Lord Exo began interfering with the harmony of life, finding chaos more fun than order, Two X began to clash with him.
Their followers broke out into a devastating war that destroyed most of the Old World. Two X and his followers were looking like they were going to lose, but when all seemed lost, Two X's strongest soldiers offered up their lives to create the God Cube, the saving grace that turned the tide of war.[2] With Lord Exo's soul imprisoned inside the cube, Two X and his followers reclaimed what was left of the Old World.
Creation of the Meta
With the Old World left in ruins, Two X created a new haven for the war's survivors, known as Paradise. This realm eventually became the seed of the tree of the Meta, which all other realms in existence would grow and branch from.[1]
Null & Void
Two X aura farms on a cliff in the Outer Nil Zone[9], aware of the Children of Exo's plan to free Lord Exo. The Rift Walker comes to Two X, asking for direction on what steps they should take. Two X responds to him, saying that he needs to protect The Meta; they cannot afford Lord Exo's freedom, as it would destroy all of creation.

Notes
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 "The chaotic energy in the Nil Zone was beginning to corrupt the few that remained, including myself, so that was when Two X used the rest of his power to create Paradise, the seed of a growing tree that all realms are created from." ― Narrator on Wave 21 (The Narratorium)
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 2.2 "Looking to his strongest fighters, they willingly sacrificed themselves to create a prison." ― Narrator on Wave 15 (The Narratorium)
- ↑ "Their weapons were drawn-one siphoning the souls of the corrupted and the other was fueled by sacrifice. One takes, the other receives." ― Narrator on Wave 14 (The Narratorium)
- ↑ "One wanted those who lived in the Old World to create a place of their own, while the other thought the only interesting world is one created from chaos." ― Narrator on Wave 2 (The Narratorium)
- ↑ 5.0 5.1 "Now after a certain amount of time that the writer doesn't want to explain, Paradise became a distant memory, and that's probably where Two X is trying to stop all realms from collapsing." ― Narrator on Wave 28 (The Narratorium)

- ↑ "Before there was anything to call the Old World, the Void was already waiting in the dark. It cannot be considered a place or a creature, but something else entirely. It is a quiet hunger that lurks beneath the notice of every being, the presence that can be felt when nothing is around. The pale flora that blooms in a place where nothing exists is where it finds its peace. It is of one mind, though it wears a thousand faces. One could call it an incurable infection.
The brothers feared it, and even Lord Exo and Two X, who feared so little, understood that there was no killing a thing without a body. For the first and final time, they drove it deep down into the foundations of the world, into a dark so total its song could never be heard again." ― Void Caster's description in its Logbook - ↑ "Long ago, two brothers ruled over all creation." ― Narrator on Wave 2 (The Narratorium)

While difficult to spot, close examination shows it highly resembles the tower cliffs found in the Banlands map, with Two X's spot making him be right above the entrance. However, due to the area above the entrance being drastically different, this appears to be a modified version of that map, potentially pointing to it not specifically being meant to be that map.
