Summary
Dead Ahead is a map that takes place on a road bridge. The bridge appears to go over a river, between two tunnels that appear to lead into mountains.
The bridge is partially destroyed, with pieces floating in the sea below. A portal can be seen at one end of the bridge and a tunnel at both ends. There are stone barriers, metal lampposts, roadblocks and orange cones to suggest that this was once a fully working road bridge. Further in, the middle of the bridge appears to have collapsed.
The path starts at the portal before taking a relatively straight path towards the tunnel. There are relatively few turns and the path itself is quite short, meaning that this is one of the hardest maps in the game.
Strategy
- There is little space to place ground towers.
- Most of the space is at the start of the map, so try to place towers here.
- The Turret may take up valuable ground space with its large placement footprint.
- You cannot place towers at the start past the first cones.
- This means enemies like the Dark Necromancer can accumulate enemies before the towers can attack, if the range of your towers are short.
- There are relatively few cliff spots, so the Ranger, Mortar and Sniper are not recommended.
- As the path is quite short, towers that slow down enemies, like the Freezer and Electroshocker, are recommended.
Trivia
- Unlike many other maps that existed prior to the MEGA Update, this map was not remade or removed.
- This was, however, remade for the Overhaul Update.
- Dead Ahead is the only non-event Insane map not to have two entrances.
