- "Earn extra cash per wave. The higher the upgrade, the higher the income."
- ―Store Description
Description
[edit]The Farm is an intermediate cash-generating tower that can be purchased from the store for Coin 2,000.
The Farm generates cash for the player at the beginning of each wave, instantly giving the player a cash bonus. It does not do anything during the wave itself, and is solely a source of bonus income.
The Farm cannot damage by normal means. The only way to deal damage is by placing the Farm in the range of a Harvester, which will make the Farm create thorns while the Harvester's Thorns ability is being used. Thorns generated by a Farm have their damage, duration and range statistics halved, though their power (except the range) increases with Levels, becoming same strength as the Harvester at Level 5. Tick and slowdown are seemingly unaffected by this and are the same as the Harvester.
It can also be strategically used to make more money for the respective player, allowing them to buy more expensive towers and upgrades sooner. The Farm, if used appropriately, can be extremely beneficial in obtaining expensive towers like the Turret, Ranger and Accelerator earlier than usual. The Farm also has a slightly larger placement footprint than other towers, though it is smaller than the Turret.
The Farm has a placement limit of ten per player. This is decreased to eight in PVP mode.

Strategy
[edit]- The Farm is very useful to have in your loadout, as its ability to generate cash makes it very useful throughout the entire game.
- This is even more important when using expensive towers like the Accelerator, Engineer and Ranger.
- The only time you should not bring the Farm is when there are too few waves to make it worthwhile. This includes most events.
- Some events outright prevent Farms from generating cash or even being placed down, so it is useless to bring the Farm for them.
- Keep in mind that the Farm does not generate money for teammates.
- When using the Farm, ensure you have a balance of defense and farming. Too little of either can be dangerous.
- When playing with others, it is usually recommended to either focus wholly on Farms or defense. The other players can assist in the areas you are not working on.
- If you are defending in the early game, you should switch to Farms once the players who have farmed in the early game place down stronger towers that can sustain the following waves, and vice versa.
- You should state in chat what role you intend to play before making any move and observe if the other players are farming or defending.
- Be ready to drop your farming if the situation calls for it. Sometimes, the player defending may not be able to cope and needs assistance from other players.
- Depending on the stage of the game which this happens, you may need to use an early game tower to help. It is always a good idea to bring along some early defense, even if you are planning to farm the majority of the early game, just to be safe.
- When playing alone, the balance can be hard to maintain. Cheap, cost-effective early game towers should be used to defend.
- It may be more effective to use the Cowboy or Golden Cowboy instead of the Farm, as they cover both economy and defense at the same time. Do note that both can be used in conjunction.
- When playing with others, it is usually recommended to either focus wholly on Farms or defense. The other players can assist in the areas you are not working on.
- When using the Farm, there is usually a choice between sticking to Level 3 or Level 5 Farms, though there is no right or wrong choice.
- If you do decide to upgrade to Level 5 Farms, upgrade them from Level 3 to Level 4 first and then upgrade them to Level 5.
- In Molten, Fallen and Frost modes, Level 5 Farms are generally more beneficial due to the larger number of waves and rather low cash gained from defeating enemies.
- In Easy, Intermediate, Polluted Wasteland II and Badlands II mode, the low number of waves makes Level 5 Farms usually not worthwhile.
- When playing in Pizza Party, Hardcore or Voidcore mode, Level 5 Farms are still a good option, but Level 3 Farms are sometimes sufficient, as you get enough money from defeating enemies.
- On the final wave of any mode, all Farms not affected by Harvester should be sold, as they do not generate any cash, do not grow thorns and take up the tower limit.
- Do not place Farms near the path in important spots, especially without Harvester, as they take up space and are potential optimal spots for offensive towers.
- If you have the Harvester, you may consider spreading out the Farms so that most of the path is covered by thorns, or clumping them up in order to do the most damage possible.
- Although the DJ Booth cannot discount the Farm, Farms still count as a tower for DJ Booth Green track ability making it sometimes situational to place farms near DJ Booth early for more cash generation.
- When farming, try to minimize unspent cash at the end of each wave while aiming for Level 2 and 3 Farms. Afterwards, get the Level 4 and then Level 5 Farms.
- Consider how you place Farms in game for space and organization.
- Map placement can play a huge factor in Farm placement, as some maps may not have suitable room for Farms to be placed on, with the room having to be taken by other towers. You may want to factor this when doing solo or party strategies.
- You may want to place Farms in rows, such as four Farms placed extremely close to four other Farms to not waste space.
- It is not recommended to place Farms in areas you will have a hard time seeing or getting to if possible, such as behind the building in U-Turn.
Trivia
[edit]- When the game was in Alpha, and for a while after BETA release, the Farm's upgrade stats were not displayed on its upgrade description. It was simply referred to as "sans tree".
- The Farm was based on the Tower Battles version of the Farm.
- The Level 2 upgrade Wheat was based on BelowNatural's wheatfields in the map Ducky's Bootcamp from R2DA.
- The Farm has the second shortest range for a tower in the game, only beaten by the Biologist.
- However, multiple units have shorter ranges, such as Elf which has 1.5 range or Hallow Guard which has 2 range.
- Some towers do not have range, like the Military Base or Elf Camp, which could be considered having shortest range than the Farm.
- The Farm is the first economy tower that was added to the game.
- The Farm is the only tower that cannot be discounted by the DJ Booth.
