Description

The Paintballer is a starter splash damage tower that can be bought in the store for Error creating thumbnail: File missing 100, but it could also be obtained by a now expired code.

It boasts a faster firerate than other splash towers in exchange for lower damage. Additionally, unlike most other splash towers, its explosion can only damage five enemies with each explosion. This is reduced to four enemies in PVP. Its damage also does not decrease the further the enemy is from the center of the explosion. This means that every enemy hit will always receive the same damage. The Paintballer falls short of other towers in most parts of the game, especially DPS, as its highest DPS is much lower than those of other towers, such as the Shotgunner. This means that it is not that useful later on during the game. It gains hidden detection at Level 1, though unlike most other splash towers, it cannot damage lead enemies.

The Paintballer is mostly regarded as an early game tower due to its extremely cheap placement cost and upgrade prices, but low DPS.

Strategy

  • The Paintballer's extremely low placement cost allows you to spam loads of them, makes it very useful in the early-game.
    • Its cheap upgrade costs and splash damage can deal with weaker enemies like the Abnormal or Heavy. Even a couple of Level 0 Paintballers can hold themselves very well for the first few waves.
    • Later on, its DPS becomes ineffective against higher health enemies such as the Normal Boss or Elite Abnormal as it is meant to be a splash damage tower. It can however be useful in dealing with summons from summoner enemies like the Necromancer (Modern Enemy)'s Skeletons.
  • The Paintballer gains Hidden Detection at Level 1 for an extremely low price, making it a nuisance against hiddens relatively early on.
    • However, it cannot fare against hidden enemies with higher health like the Hidden Boss due to its low DPS. You should use towers with high DPS like the Minigunner to counter this obstacle, since they are more efficient.
  • Unlike other splash damage towers, the Paintballer does not have lead detection, so you will need to use other towers to deal with Lead enemies.
  • The Paintballer can be used to mislead enemies with stunning abilities such as the Warden and the Executioner, preventing them from stunning important towers like the Turret
    • This is also useful if you have a group of high DPS towers that would most likely be vulnerable to stuns, hindering their DPS capabilities. Though, this tactic is not required for towers that cannot be stunned at all like the Accelerator.
      • Keep in mind that certain enemies with stomp abilities will still be able to stun everything within their radius, neglecting this strategy.

Trivia

  • When the game was in Alpha, the Paintballer's upgrade stats were not displayed on its upgrade description. It was simply referred to as "sans gun".
    • When the game was released into BETA, this was changed to "sans paint gun".
  • The Paintballer was added before John (now called the Militant) and was formerly "JOHN ROBLOX's" until John was released.
    • This used to be redeemable with the code JOHNROBLOX, making it the first ever tower that could have been redeemable by a code.
  • The Paintballer is the cheapest tower to unlock in the game.
    • Its placement cost is also the lowest out of any tower, just Error creating thumbnail: File missing$25 ahead of the Scout's placement cost.
      • Moreover, the Paintballer's Level 1 upgrade price is the cheapest in the game.

Update History

For previous cosmetic variations, see the gallery page.
