Description

[edit]

The Frost Mystery was an enemy that appeared exclusively in Outpost 32 as part of the Frost Invasion Event. Currently, it can be spawned in Sandbox mode, though it will copy the Operation I.C.E Event Frost Mystery statistics. Compared to the Snowy, the Frost Mystery had higher health and faster speed. Upon its death, the Frost Mystery spawned a random enemy from a set list. The enemy spawned depended on the wave, though this no longer happens in Sandbox mode.

Appearance

[edit]

The Frost Mystery has blue translucent skin. It is faceless. The Frost Mystery has a small neon blue humanoid inside its torso, likely representing the enemy it spawns upon its death.

Enemy Spawned

[edit]

The Frost Mystery is able to spawn more enemies after its debut. Italic names can be spawned from the Frost Mystery's debut. In Sandbox mode, no enemies spawn.

Event Strategy

[edit]

As this enemy only appears through Sandbox mode, no strategy section is made for its current version. Instead, a strategy section for the one that appeared without Sandbox mode in Outpost 32 is listed instead.

  • As Frost Mysteries and their spawns come in hordes, towers that can deal damage to multiple enemies like the Pursuit, Pyromancer, Gladiator and Demoman are effective.
  • High DPS towers like the Accelerator are recommended for later waves, boosted by the Commander and DJ Booth.
  • Certain spawned enemies require specific towers to be reliably kept under control.
    • Cold Mists can slip past if hidden defense is short. Multiple Level 2+ Minigunners ensure safety against them.
    • Rangers are your best bet against Crying Angels, especially if they spawn in huge numbers from Frost Mysteries.
    • Watch out for the Unstable Ice. If too many spawn, they can stun many towers. Exercise caution and place your towers away from the path. The Pyromancer is also recommended to reduce its stun radius, making it stun less towers.
  • The Pyromancer deals double fire damage against the Frost Mystery and its spawns. It is also a multi-hit tower, so it is quite effective.
  • If a Frost Mystery is near the end of the map, try not to kill it, as it may spawn a high health enemy like the Packed Ice, reducing your base health more than if it wasn't killed.
  • Slowing towers, while generally not needed, can still be useful. The Toxic Gunner is notable for its permanent 50% slowdown while still doing fairly decent DPS.

Trivia

[edit]
  • The Frost Mystery was similar to the Mysteries and Mystery Bosses that appear in every gamemode.
  • Summoned enemies from the Frost Mystery were called "Mystery's ______" instead of "Frost Mystery's ______".
