Description

The Crook Boss is an intermediate tower that sends out goons to fight alongside it. The tower is unlocked upon reaching Level 30, but it can alternatively be purchased as a gamepass for Robux 300. The Crook Boss can be claimed using the pop up message that appears when joining the lobby.

Initially, the Crook Boss has medium damage, an average firerate and low range. However, with later upgrades, the firerate decreases and its damage increases significantly. The range also increases but is still quite short compared to other towers, such as the Turret. The Crook Boss has the ability to spawn the Pistol Goon from Level 0, which with later levels gets double spawns. Additional, at Level 3, it spawns Tommy Goon 1, which gets replaced by Tommy Goon 2 at Level 4. These units all have lifespans, meaning they are on the map only for a few minutes. Every time it summons a unit, it stops attacking for a second and a half. Both Tommy Goon 1 and Tommy Goon 2 have hidden detection and the Pistol Goon has flying detection.

The Crook Boss is a mid to late-game tower due to its expensive cost and good DPS. It can also be used a great sub-dps tower in the late-game due to its high DPS at Level 4. However its capabilities in the late game are limited because of its moderate placement limit.

There is a limit of five Crook Bosses for each player. Additionally, it has a limit of ten Pistol Goons per tower and a limit of three Tommy Goon 1s and Tommy Goon 2s per tower.

Strategy

  • You can only place a maximum of five Crook Bosses.
    • If you have other towers without placement limits (such as the Minigunner and the Swarmer) then it is best to use them after you have got five Crook Bosses.
  • The Crook Boss is well worth its cost mid to late-game, and it does a decent job at dealing damage, especially when the goons are included.
    • In some regards, the Crook Boss is better than the Minigunner, but it does have a placement limit.
  • Do not rely entirely on the goons as their low health makes them vulnerable to enemy collision and abilities that deal damage.
  • If you are on a map where units can consistently target enemies from further away, such as Crossroads or Honey Valley, the units that spawn from the Crook Boss may prove quite useful in providing extra damage, especially against slower enemies.
    • You may also use towers, such as the Electroshocker, Toxic Gunner or Freezer, to slow down enemies, giving the units more time to shoot at enemies.
    • Do note, however, that there is a limit on how many of them can be spawned from a single Crook Boss. Additionally, they all have lifespans, making them last on the map for only a few minutes.
  • Though the Game Master skin does not directly buff the Crook Boss, the piggy banks it spawns lights up a large portion of the map. This can be useful in dark maps like Pizza Party, where low visibility can be a nuisance or detriment to the player.

Trivia

  • Originally, the Crook Boss spawned the Crook at Level 4 and the Mafia at Level 5. However, in the Frost Invasion Update, this was changed so that is spawned the Body Guard, Body Guards 1 and Body Guards 2.
  • The Crook Boss was the first tower released that could be unlocked at a certain level, and also the first tower that could be bought with Robux Robux.
  • The Crook Boss was originally a reference to the Mafia City meme.
  • Prior to the MEGA Update, the Level 1 upgrade description would mention that the Crook Boss gains a "gamer hat", though it was not a statistical change.
  • Prior to the Frost Invasion Update, the Crook Boss only had a unit limit in Hardcore Testing BETA, which was set to two.
    • In the Frost Invasion Update, it was later re-added as the limit was never added in the Overhaul Update, though it was decreased from two to one. This limit would later change in updates.
  • The Crook Boss' Level 4 upgrade name, The Godfather, may be a reference to the famous mafia movie and novel of the same name.
  • Alien Focus skin of the Crook Boss is the second most expensive items purchasable in the game with coins, at Error creating thumbnail: File missing 1,346,914,768.
