Description

The Shotgunner, formerly known as the Enforcer, is an intermediate ground tower that wields a powerful pump shotgun to attack enemies with. It costs Error creating thumbnail: File missing 850 to buy from the store.

The Shotgunner shoots multiple bullets at once through Scatter Shot. Damage is split among 6 bullets per firerate (so the base damage is 2x6), and these bullets are spread within a small cone and can pierce through enemies. The same enemy can be hit with multiple bullets, increasing the damage inflicted. On all levels, three enemies can be damaged by the same bullet. The first two enemies will be dealt full damage, while the last will only be dealt 50% of the damage. The closer an enemy is to the Shotgunner, the more likely they are to be damaged by the bullets.

The Shotgunner is considered a mid to late-game, as its medium cost can be utilized in the mid-game, while its later upgrades and mediocre range, but high DPS can suffice in the late game. It is excellent against huge swarms of enemies as it allows Shotgunner to maximise its high DPS.

The Shotgunner has a placement limit of nine per player. This is removed in PVP mode.

Strategy

  • The Shotgunner is best placed in a straight line, as enemies traveling away from the Shotgunner will be affected by all the bullets.
    • It is also recommended to set the Shotgunner's targeting to Farthest so that it hits as many enemies as possible.
  • Multiple Level 0–2 Shotgunners are very cost-efficient and effective at killing enemies, even fast ones like the Speedy or Quick, although it is quite expensive.
    • Towards late-game, multiple Level 3 and 4 Shotgunners can be used to wipe out hordes of enemies, such as the Fallen Giant or Molten Titan.
  • Be aware that the Shotgunner has a quite mediocre range.
    • DJ Booth or Ranger can be used to increase the range of Shotgunner, but the range increase is minimal at best.
      • However, the DJ Booth can still be useful to reduce the price of the Shotgunner's upgrades or to boost its damage.
    • The Tesla complements the Shotgunner quite well as the Electroshocker can restrict enemy movement significantly, so the Shotgunner can hit more targets with each shot.
      • The Freezer can help to freeze enemies, but it cannot freeze multiple enemies without its Frost Grenade ability. Meanwhile, the Sledger and Frost Blaster can freeze multiple enemies at once.
  • The Shotgunner has a smaller placement footprint than most towers, making it take up far less space.
  • The Shotgunner fires multiple bullets at once, making it quite effective against Tank enemies.
  • While the Shotgunner does have high DPS for its cost, its overall damage output is mitigated due to its small range.
    • This makes Shotgunner better used as a frontline defense to maximize damage output.
    • Shotgunner is most effective on maps with small loops like Simplicity and Midnight Issue.
  • The Shotgunner's bullets can only pierce through a limited number of enemies, with the first two enemies being dealt full damage, and the last enemy being dealt only half of the damage.
    • On all levels, it can pierce through two enemies, so each bullet can hit three enemies.
    • This makes Shotgunner a good choice against crowds of high-health enemies where Splash Damage towers normally struggle.
  • Shotgunner is a very effective tower for killing Flying enemies, as it gets flying detection at Level 2+ and has high dps.
    • Before Level 2+, Shotgunner can still accidentally hit flying enemies within range of the enemy it is targeting.

Trivia

  • The Shotgunner (when it was called the Enforcer) was inspired by the Enforcer from the Risk of Rain series.
  • Before the Overhaul Update, the Shotgunner (known as the Enforcer back then) had the appearance of a police officer.
    • It also had an ability that spawned a SWAT Van with 600 health and a 45 second cooldown.
      • This ability was voiced by YouTuber JOHN ROBLOX. There were three lines:
        • "Strike force moving out."
        • "Strike force rolling."
        • "Copy, strike force is on the way."
  • The Shotgunner enemy from Pizza Party is based on the Shotgunner tower.
  • The Shotgunner was the only tower to gain lead detection and then lose it on another level.
    • However, this was a bug and not intentional.
    • As of Update V2.0.0, Shotgunner no longer has lead detection on any level.
  • The Shotgunner used to be a starter tower prior to the Hardcore Rework update.

Update History

For previous cosmetic variations, see the gallery page.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 The first two enemies damaged by the same bullet are dealt full damage, while the third enemy is dealt half of the damage.
  2. 2.0 2.1 DPS assumes all bullets hit only one enemy.
