Description

The Minigunner is a fast-firing advanced tower that can be purchased from the store for Error creating thumbnail: File missing 8,000.

Before the Minigunner starts firing, it needs to rev-up its M61 Vulcan. This process takes 1.4 seconds (1.2 at Level 1-2, 1 at Level 3+), and once the Minigunner's gun is fully revved up, it begins to shoot. If there are no more enemies in its range, it will wait for around a second for an enemy to enter its range before revving down. If another enemy enters its range after it has revved down, it will have to rev-up again, and if an enemy enters its range during the process of revving down, the Minigunner will immediately begin to rev-up again, finishing the process faster than normal. The Minigunner has high DPS and a relatively low cost compared to other high DPS towers, like the Accelerator or Engineer. Additionally, there is no limit on the number of Minigunners that can be placed down during a game, which is not the case for other high DPS towers.

This is considered an all-round tower because it is affordable relatively early on but can deal fairly high damage at higher levels as well. While in regular modes, it has no placement limit, in PVP mode only twelve Minigunners can be placed per player.

Strategy

  • The Minigunner should be one of the towers that is placed down the most if brought in. it is recommended to place them in a large group near the start of the path if possible, or placing them in an area that covers a lot of the path (for example, at corners).
    • Be careful when placing multiple Minigunners on the map when in teams, as this can block many vital spaces for stronger towers such as the Accelerator or Engineer. The DJ Booth and Commander are also integral support towers to be used with the Minigunner, especially with a Range Buff, as Minigunner lacks range for a DPS tower.
      • Unlike other high DPS towers such as the Ranger and Turret, the Minigunner does not have a placement limit. If you still have space to place down more towers, the Minigunner is a great choice to further fortify your defenses.
  • Midway through the game, several Level 3-4 Minigunners are a cost-efficient option for wiping out hordes of enemies.
    • The first Minigunners should be placed down in the transition to the mid-game, right when early game towers begin to struggle. Such instances include the debut waves of the Slow Boss and Necromancer.
  • If you plan to save up for the Minigunner during the early stages of the game, you should have teammates with reliable early game towers, such as the Golden Soldier, Golden Scout or Crook Boss to defend until you have gathered enough money to place it.
  • In terms of raw DPS, the Engineer, Accelerator and Ranger are far more effective. However, they are far more expensive and suffer from several limitations, making the Minigunner a far more flexible choice for some scenarios.
  • This tower is not affected much by the defense from enemies like the Fallen Giant and Warden due to its low base damage at lower levels. In most cases, the Minigunner can still deal most of its damage to such enemies, or even its full damage.
    • Do note that the Levels 3 and 4 deal 7 and 15 damage respectively, which are high enough for most enemies with defense to be able to have a noticeable effect on its damage output.
      • Even still, defense dropping towers like the Pyromancer are recommended to increase the damage of Minigunners against certain enemies with very high defense.
  • The Minigunner can serve as a cheap and effective way to wipe out Hidden enemies, like the Soul and Possessed Armor.

Trivia

  • When the game was in Alpha, and for a while after BETA release, the Minigunner's upgrade stats were not displayed on its upgrade description. It was simply referred to as "sans big gun".
  • Before the 13th of October 2019, when the Minigunner was Level 2 or higher, its face changed from the Roblox default face to the Grr! face, despite the fact that the upgrade icon kept the Roblox default face.
  • The Minigunner was inspired by Tower Battles' Commando as well as Team Fortress 2's Heavy.
  • Prior to the 8th of August 2019, the Level 5 upgrade was a jetpack. Functionally, it performed the same way as any other ground tower.
    • Regardless of being a flying tower upon reaching that level, the hitbox of the Minigunner did not change with the jetpack. It could still be stunned by rocks from Tanks or the shockwave from the Gravekeeper.
  • The M134 Vulcan originally used by most Minigunner skins was first popularized by R2D's Minigun.
  • The Minigunner along with its golden counterpart, the Golden Minigunner, currently have the most skins out of any tower in the game.
  • The Minigunner used to appear alongside the Pyromancer, Scout, Commander and Sniper on the "Triumph" screen before the Community Maps Update.
  • The survival matchmaking statue in the lobby is based on the sixth version of the Default skin's base level.
    • The statue actually uses a different model than the Default Minigunner. Most notably, it wears a different vest and knee-pads.
  • The Minigunner enemy from Pizza Party is based on the Minigunner tower.
