Golden Mode Content

Gold Guard is either partially or wholly part of Golden Mode which has been removed.
This page may reference this mode for the future if it is re-added.

Description

The Gold Guard is a large guardian enemy exclusive to Golden mode. The Golden Guard always spawns just before the final boss, namely the Gold Titan. Its main presence is to protect the Gold Titan.

They can impale towers with its trident, stunning them for a brief period of time. Unlike other golden enemies, it is not immune to splash damage. However, it does have energy and freeze immunity.

It is replaced by the Fallen Guardian in Fallen mode and the Molten Titan in Molten mode. This does not have an equivalent in Normal mode.

Appearance

The Gold Guard is made entirely of gold, with a light yellow dominus, pauldrons and a trident. The pauldrons are skull-shaped and have glowing neon eyes. It also wears a light yellow robe and has light yellow wings. The Gold Guard is faceless; instead its head is glowing neon.

Strategy

  • Despite the common sense of taking the Gold Guards down first, they aren't too much of a threat given their inferior attacks when compared to the Gold Titan. However they will reach the exit first, so keep that in mind.
    • In any case, it is a good idea to take these down before all attacking towers switch to the Gold Titan.
  • Golden Guards spawn in a group of three. Unlike other golden enemies, the Gold Guard is not immune to splash damage.
    • While the Rocketeer and Mortar can be effective against the Gold Guard, the fact that the Gold Titan (and its spawned enemies) are immune to splash damage means that these towers are not recommended, in general.
  • Minigunners, Rangers and Turrets are excellent options against these enemies.
    • The Commander can boost the DPS of these towers.
  • Try not to group towers together so that the Gold Guard cannot stun all of your towers at once.
  • The Medic's ability can cleanse towers stunned by Gold Guard, provided that the Medic is not stunned itself.
  • You cannot use the Freezer or the Frost Blaster to slow this down as it has freeze immunity.
    • Be aware that the Electroshocker can only slow the Gold Guard down for a very short period of time due to its large size and energy immunity.
