Description
The Balloon is an enemy which only appears in Hardcore and Voidcore modes. It has a balloon tied to its back which makes it fly, making it immune to collision damage, as well as making it undetectable by some towers and units. The balloon on its back pops when the Balloon loses all of its Shield Health, making the enemy vulnerable to collisions and ground towers. Its speed is also reduced by diving its speed by 1.5.
The Balloon can be spawned by the Grave Digger in Hardcore mode. The Balloon can also be spawned from the Mystery upon its death in Hardcore mode.
Logbook Description
"It’s not entirely clear why they are tied to the balloon. Perhaps it was a cruel joke by the Mandrakes, but the Balloon is left stranded regardless. The Void army is organized for what its needs are and, as it turns out, the Balloons are incredibly useful in battle. At first the Void Caster simply stared at the hundreds bumping against one another in the Vault, but then praised the little bush Mandrakes for their ingenuity."

Strategy
- Affordable towers with flying detection like the Engineer, Crook Boss or Ace Pilot can be used to take them down with relative ease. Although, after their debut wave, it is still best to continue investing in flying detection for a fair bit due to the denser quantities of them that spawn in later waves.
- Once they lose their Shield Health, Balloons are practically already dead, and can even serve as a boon for explosive towers without flying detection, particularly the Golden Demoman and Rocketeer.
