―Beginning of Wave 51

Description

The Controlled appeared to be a normal enemy with average walkspeed and low health for the stage of the game that it first appeared at. However, they could turn very deadly in a matter of seconds due to the fact that they were able to spawn Shrike Crystals upon death, which stunned your towers. This allowed other enemies to pass through, creating a dangerous situation.

Appearance

The Controlled was faceless, with only a drooling zombie mouth. They wore a headcrab hat and a grey bandanna. They had diamond-plated wristbands and leg-bands. Their skin was grey, and they had black pebble torso and legs.

Strategy

  • Do not underestimate these enemies, they can easily overwhelm you.
  • The Controlled spawn in hordes so while it appears that towers that deal splash damage may be useful, they can lead to your downfall.
    • This is because they can spawn multiple Shrike Crystals, which are immune to explosions, meaning that your towers can be stunned for a while if you rely on such towers.
    • Additionally, the range of other towers may not be able to reach these Shrike Crystals.
  • For the Controlleds, high DPS towers such as the Minigunner are very useful.
    • Additionally, the crooks from the Crook Boss are also useful.

Trivia

  • The Controlled seemed to be a reference to the Shrike from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • The Controlled's design was most likely inspired from the Headcrab Zombie from the Half-Life series.

Update History

  • 10 July 2019
    • Controlled added.
  • 13 October 2019
    • Controlled removed.
