" It's too late to run, V. Once we take down this shield guy, we won't stop until we kill whatever's leading them. We're barely hurting them, but we ARE hurting them."

Description

[edit]

The Vindicator is a strong enemy that appears in both Hardcore and Voidcore modes. It has high health and Shield Health. It by default has 100% Defense, which reduces most sources of damage by 50%, but while its Shield Health is not depleted it has a forcefield which also gives it Blessed, increasing the Defense to 200% which reduces damage taken by 66.67%.

It has one ability where it will throw its hammer at a tower or unit in a range of 30, which will then bounce to another target in a range of 5 of the previous one. It will bounce up to six times before returning. Any tower hit will receive an 100% Scared Debuff, reducing their range to 0 if there are no buffs applied to its range. In case of towers with the Stun Immunity, the Vindicator will not directly target them, though if the hammer does bounce to them, they will not receive the Scared Debuff. Towards units, it will simply deal 100 damage.

Logbook Description

[edit]

"The Vindicators are the trusted Do-Gooders of the Void. They act as enforcement and will not tolerate insubordination. Before the battle alongside Lord Exo, Vindicators would often patrol the ranks of Void Caster’s army to keep order and offer swift judgement upon those who step out of line. They don’t particularly have a high tolerance for nonsense or tomfoolery. Sometimes, a little dilly dallying they will overlook. If one is being a bit too silly for their liking, they will drop their hammer atop them to keep them still. It’s of no concern if the creature survives or not."

Appearance

[edit]

The Vindicator has a black body. It wears full body armor consisting of a purple helmet, chestplate, shoulder-pads, leggings and shoes. On its back, it wears a purple cape and has two rows of three crystals floating behind it. It has small purple wings on its helmet and purple flowers on its chest. While it has its Shield Health, it has a purple forcefield around itself and also carries a shield. Once it is depleted, the forcefield will disappear and it will throw its shield away. It carries a hammer it uses that it throws at towers and units.

Strategy

[edit]
  • The Vindicator has high health, and a slow-medium speed, so it is recommended to bring high DPS towers such as the Accelerator, Engineer, Ranger, Turret, Minigunner or Juggernaut.
    • While one would think towers like the Ranger or Pursuit would not benefit from their Stun Immunity due to the Vindicator applying the Scared Debuff, the Vindicator will oddly not target them and if the hammer does bounce to them, it will not apply anything, making them quite decent picks against it.
    • The Vindicator will only deal 100 damage to any hit unit and will not reduce their range, making DPS towers reliant on units like the Engineer, Mercenary Base or Necromancer useful against this.
      • The collision damage of units also bypasses Defense, making them especially useful.
    • Although the Warlock's ranged range is fully affected, the melee range despite visually disappearing actually still exists, allowing the Warlock to stll attack.
  • The DJ Booth and Commander can be used to boost the DPS of your towers.
  • The top path Juggernaut can be used to reduce the duration of the Scared Debuff on towers.
    • The Medic cannot be used to prevent it, as the shield does not protect towers from debuffs.
    • The Field Medic can also be used to protect units from damage.
  • Defense melting towers like the Pyromancer, Freezer, DJ Booth Frost Blaster or Electroshocker can be useful at reducing its extremely high Defense.
