Soul Salvager
Description
The Soul Salvager is an enemy that cannot be attacked by towers without hidden detection. It only appears in Hardcore mode. It can effectively summon Souls and Soul Bosses in a unique manner.
It has one ability, Soul Salvage. When used, Soul Salvager stops moving, and casts a halo onto all nearby enemies. The halo lasts until the enemy is defeated. When an enemy with a halo is defeated, it spawns either a Soul or Soul Boss depending on the enemy's size (anything larger than a Normal Boss will spawn a Soul Boss).
Appearance
The Soul Salvager is a white translucent enemy with white wings, a white cape and hair, and a glowing yellow halo. It wields a white translucent staff with a purple gem and glowing yellow halo and particles. It has glowing yellow eyes and has a sad face. Its torso has a purple gem on it.
Strategy
- The Soul Salvager can only be detected by towers with hidden detection.
- Towers, such as the Minigunner and Turret must be upgraded to a high enough level for hidden detection.
- These towers fare very well against the Soul Salvager.
- Additionally, the Accelerator has hidden detection from Level 0, making it a very useful tower against the Soul Salvager.
- At this point in the game, all Accelerators should already be upgraded past Level 0.
- While Accelerator is useful against the Soul Salvager, its lock-on mechanic may prevent it from attacking the spawned Souls and Soul Bosses.
- In these situations, towers such as the Minigunner and Turret are more effective.
- Towers, such as the Minigunner and Turret must be upgraded to a high enough level for hidden detection.
- It is highly recommended to prepare for the Soul Salvager, as if kept alive for too long, may cause many enemies to spawn Souls or Soul Bosses which will overrun most defenses.
- When paired with the Necromancer Boss which debuts on the same wave, many Souls and Soul Bosses will be spawned. It is recommended to prioritize defeating one or the other.
- Setting towers to Strongest is effective against it.
- Do note that the Necromancer Boss also has very high health, so both may end up being targeted for most of the time.
- At Level 4+, the Ace Pilot is able to give towers in its range temporary hidden detection for 15 seconds, allowing towers without hidden detection to be able to attack the Soul Salvager.
- The Rocketeer and Mortar cannot detect the Soul Salvager, but their splash damage can indirectly damage it.
- Another detectable enemy must be near the Soul Salvager for these towers to hit it.
- The Military Base is useless against the Soul Salvager as its units cannot detect nor collide with it.
- The Electroshocker can be used to slow down the Soul Salvager as it is average-sized and does not have an energy immunity.
- The Soul Salvager cannot be frozen as it has Freeze immunity. Thus, the Freezer, Frost Blaster and Sledger are near useless against this enemy.
